Hey Everyone!

I am new here, so please bare with me as I have a few questions.

First of all, I am the US citizen and my fiance is a Canadian citizen. We have been engaged for a little over a month now, but have known each other for 10 years.

My main question is: Are the current processing times listed on the USCIS under the CSC for I-129F visas for the entire process? Or just from NOA1 to NOA2?

I am trying to plan a wedding for October 27th and not sure if this is even realistic considering I just got a text on May 7th stating they had gotten my petition and were forwarding it to CSC?

Any advice about this process would be amazingly helpful! I'm so stressed and scatter brained about all this I need all the help I can get!

Thank you!!

-Amberlynn

USCIS lists the timeframe for NOA1 to NOA2.

It is nearly impossible for you to have your visa by October. After USCIS deals with it, there's still an embassy/interview stage. And if you're going through Montreal, be prepared to wait for an interview. I got my NOA2 in January of last year and didn't get my interview until May.

Processing times are only from NOA1 to NOA2 they do not list the rest of the process.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Welcome to the forum.

It is generally recommended that NO wedding plans, deposits given, venue reservations be made until you are in actual possession of the visa.

:guides: for more information about the visa journey have embarked upon.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Processing times are from NOA1 - NOA2. It is very unlikely that you would be able to have your wedding on said date. Consider 5 months for NOA1-NOA2 and then around 1-3 months+ for the process thereafter.

People on VJ always advise to never make wedding plans are you never truly know when your petition will be approved; you could get an RFE, your case could get lost, you could be lucky and someone dropped your petition in with some December 11' petitions and you get your NOA1 sooner.

Good luck, settle in for the wait and enjoy the ride :star:

Sigh. That's what I was afraid of. Well, I got my physical NOA1 yesterday. That made me feel a little better knowing someone has it and is working on it somewhere.

Any advice to consider while waiting? Does anyone know if I will have any problems getting over into Canada to visit my fiance now that the paperwork has been filed? I know he can't come here, but am I able to go there?

There are no rules against visiting. You can go to Canada, he can come to the United States. If he does choose to visit the US, make sure he brings ties to Canada that prove he is going back. A letter from an employer stating when he's due to return, a letter from school, return ticket, a copy of a lease, etc. Of course it's up to the border patrol whether he gets in (as always) but people do it all the time. If he's denied at the border, it has no negative impact on the visa whatsoever.

Oh he can come here? I was told he wasn't able to. Well, that makes things not seem as bad then! He just has to be able to prove that he's not staying. Thanks! That puts my mind at ease. Its only a 7 hour drive, but still.

Well, thank you. I'm so glad there is a place where other people are going through this too. Makes me feel like I'm not alone in this!

Hi ... I am a Canadian Fellow as well and my fiancee is in Westfield MA. She sent the package in back in January and she got the NOA 1 on Jan 28th, so we are still waiting probably another 30 days for them to look at it. I have travelled from Canada to Hartford in March and have another tip planned in June for 10 days. This is all while the process is underway. She has not come to canada yet. Its all a matter of patience. Yes a long process and it may take us another month for approval and then 2 - 3 months for interview and medical and prints. I Am still going to visit in August as well. Just BREATH as my fiancee says.... good luck

I highly doubt you will get the visa by October. We are so shooting for an October wedding, but we filed in January. Don't book any vendors yet, but contact them! Explain the situation; see if they can accommodate short notices. Do some details for the wedding (ex. I just finished designing our invites and programs (only missing specific details to print them), got my dress, BMs dresses, favors, and other various things)! It makes me feel productive and I don't stress so much about the visa! Not having a solid date sucks, but being able to work on things seems to help me. :) and we are planning a bilingual ceremony so I have to do almost everything in English and then again in Spanish! Whew! Good luck!

I am wondering why it would be different than any other time they come to the US? So does the US boarder somehow know that they are involved in a Visa Process? Like are their names flagged? Just curious because my fiance will be visiting during the processing of our petition but I didn't really think is would matter... He didn't bring any of those pieces of information with him last time...

My attorney that I met with before I sent in my paperwork said its all about the "intent". I think their systems do show the names of people involved with immigration. Because K1 is an immigration process. The intent is for marriage and eventually permanent residency/citizenship. So I guess if they can prove that they are going to be going back to their countries after visiting, then they may or may not let them in. For me as the USC it doesn't make a difference on my trips to Canada and back because they know I don't want to move to Canada based on my filing of the K1.
