Holiday time at the NVC

Just a Q for my own I. ;)

In the experience of VJ long-haulers, how does the NVC behave around the December holidays? Is there a last-minute push to try to get the desks cleared off a bit? Do they tend to get sluggish and postpone until after January 1? Or do they continue at the same plodding old pace?

Some well-meaning soul is bound to come back with "Oh, don't worry about it", so I should mention I'm not worried in the slightest. I'm just generally curious about how the Machine works.

Final Timeline

08-21-2006 ... I-130 sent to Texas

05-15-2007 ... My husband arrives in USA with CR-1

Hear, hear!!!! I haven't heard anything yet from e-mails I sent a while back. What exactly are they doing? I understand that they are assisting not only us here at VJ, but seriously. How many people do you think they have working on this stuff????

In general, I would say like any other business it probably slows down a bit at the NVC ... in visa terms, this means it probably comes closer to a HALT more than become slow. Let's HOPE and PRAY they find it in their hearts to speed it up for Christmas though. PLEASE Lord hear this prayer!!!

Service Center : California Service Center

Consulate : Trinidad & Tobago

4-18: I-129F Sent

4-25: I-129F NOA1

6-23: I-129F RFE

8-27: Sent RFE Reply

9-15: I-129F NOA2 FINALLY!!! Thanks be to you lord!

9-19: NOA2 by postmarked in snail mail (rcvd' around the 22nd)

10-12: Received e-mail from the NVC stating they recently forwarded our petition to the consulate! =)

10-17: Consulate received petition from NVC and mailed out packet 3 & 4

10-25: Johann collects Packet 3 & 4 from embassy!

10-27: Return information to the embassy!

11-7: Received Packet 4

11-28: INTERVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE DID IT~ APPROVED

12-1: Visa Picked up from Embassy

12-23: Johann is coming to the STATES! Yay!

Do you think it's likely that the current stagnation at the NVC might be in part because USCIS is speeding up? With I-130's being approved so quickly lately, I've wondered how the State Dept would handle the potential bottleneck. Maybe these 65-70 days approvals are both a blessing and a curse?!

JenM

11.28.06 - Choice of Agent in NVC system

12.04.06 - IV Bill and I-864 Packet generated

12.06.06 - I-864 mailed using James' Shortcuts

12.12.06 - IV Bill rec'd via USPS and payment sent back to NVC same day

12.21.06 - I-864 in NVC system

12.26.06 - DS-230 generated

12.29.06 - DS-230 mailed using James' Shortcuts

01.08.07 - All paperwork in NVC system.

If you read some of the recent posts, it seems that part of the problem is the CSC isn't sending things along to the NVC in a timely manner. Beyond that, could be anything. Ah, well. As Doris sang it: Que Sera, Sera!

If you look at some timelines, like mine, The case got to NVC, and is still there for nearly 3 months, without moving, sitting in AR. They are not doing their job, that is clear.

Mike.
