You may want to look into CBP Global Entry program. For frequent travellers it makes it easy at airport. I applied and got approved yesterday.

Thanks for the pointer. This is indeed nice for frequent travelers. But if you travel only once or twice a year I do not know if it is really worth it or not.

Agreed, may not be worth it for the occasional traveler, but the application fee of $100 is waived if the applicant is an American Express Platinum cardmember, so if you are one it might not be a bad idea to have this.

They are expanding the program and it can also be used at land crossings, cruises and domestic flights. It is $100 for 5 years not bad at all for the convenience it offers. Amex platinum reimburses the fee. I am sure soon other cards will also follow Amex and reimburse the fees.

In my case, the nearest enrollment center for the interview is 2.5 hours away. I'll pass this time on this but will keep this on my mind for future reference.

NO, you cannot enroll kids. Its for Adults only. I am member for many years, I think 4. Excellent program for frequent travelers, though I must warn you that you need a very clean record (no speeding, arrests or any kind of charges).

I just updated my passport info in April and I checked for this very issue and it said adults 18 and above. If they changed in the last couple of weeks then I apologize.

You can now enroll children from birth on up. Both of my toddlers have it.

I was literally one of the first GE members when it was only three airports and a test program at Houston-Bush in summer of 08. Back then you could not have kids under 14 in the program. As of about 5 months now you can.

I love Global Entry. Even if I only travelled once a year it would be worth it, just on the saved connections, extra airline lounge time, and much faster landing to parking lot returns at IAH and other locations. Plus it now qualifies you for PRe check with TSA.

I highly recommend the program. I am actually kind of suprised it works so well considering the gov't runs it ... ;-)

Also reciprocity is growing with other countries (Korea, Netherlands, rumours of Israel and Qatar).
