hi,

We are about to submit? the I-864 affidavit of support for my Chinese mother-in-law,

my wife is the petitioner.

We are signed up for and have been receving NOAs, and payments via email with no problems.

Confused on this part...

Should I be submitting the I-864 along with the I-864A (No I-864ez) as an attachment with email or hardcopy paper mail to NVC?

If electronic (email) it seems like alot of supporting evidence to scan in and attach attach in an email.

any advice would be great.

Have you decided to do electronic processing? If so, have you sent the OPTIN email and been assigned a GZO number?

If you have a GZO number, then it's email only. If you still have a GUZ number, then it's paper only. It's all or nothing, there is no splitting between sending via email and mailing papers.

If you decide to submit electronically, find a computer that has the full version of Acrobat and use that program to reduce the file size.

thanks for replys. I should have read more carefully.

well, I am not sure if I chose correctly. Not realizing the guidelines for optin until now. I sent in the DS-3032 via paper mail and received receipt via email with GUZ case number

Since I didnot send in an email with pdf DS-3032 and state optin. Does anyone know if I can still opt in for electronic at this point?

For all the extra trouble to optin. is it worth it? any experiences.

My AOS I-864 is ready to be go now.

I would call the NVC and ask if it's too late. If you choose the paper route, you're in for a 3-4 month delay at Chinese customs.

Since you have not send any of the packages to the NVC yet, you probably still have a chance to OPTIN. I believe it is totally worth it.

You can read my thread about my experiences with EP; I detailed everything I did.

Does anyone know if I can still opt in for electronic at this point?

For all the extra trouble to optin. is it worth it? any experiences.

Yes, you can

and yes, it is worth it.

Say you stay on the paper track, for a moment. After the doc intake is finished at NVC, NVC sends the casefile to GUZ IV. It takes 2 to 5 months between 'NVC OUT' and 'GUZ IV open the casefile' . Then GUZ IV still has to schedule the interview, another 6 to 11 weeks from opening the casefile.

If you used EP, instead, you would know the interview date within 5 days of 'final review complete' timetick at NVC. That interview date would be set for 3 to 5 weeks past the scheduling event. No waiting on GUZ IV for anything else.

So, pick yer path. In this one particular instance, with EP, you CAN have it good, fast, and cheap. Paperfilers? alas, it's only 2 of the three.
