Hi everyone,

So I filed on June 6th of 2011 to remove my wife's conditional status on her green card. I think about a month later we got her biometrics notice, went to the location and had that all filled out. In August we moved to New York from Texas. Soon after we moved I filed a change of address over the phone.

I noticed the processing dates are already a month passed when I filed. The year extensions will expire here in about a month so I am starting to get a little worried. I tried calling USCIS today, but for the life of me couldn't figure out how to get to someone. Anyone know how to get through to them with the newer menu? Waiting on the line doesn't seem to work.

Second I read in the guide we can get an extension by getting a stamp I-551 stamp from our local office. Does anyone know if we can travel with that and whether you have to wait for the NOA to expire, or can you get it right before it expires?

Thanks,

-J

Make an InfoPass appointment at your local USCIS office to follow up.

That's a lie and welcome to the ignored section of the ROC applicants. I'm June 11 filer and still waiting.

First thing first, call them again, ask them politely that to put in a Service Request for your case and ask for a written acknowledgement to be sent to you. Next make an InfoPass and have your passport stamped for I-551 extension. As for traveling is you can travel with that stamp. However bring your expired GC, ORIGINAL NOA1 and all the SRs and whatever you have regarding the case with you so in case they refuse you to enter you have something to show.

Also call your congressman and have him/her look into your case, and/or file for Naturalization (N-400) if you plan to become a citizen. This will force them to make a decision on your ROC.

You have to be proactive with this, and it seems like more taking-it's-sweet-time ROC applicants are showing up, wondering what the F USCIS is doing anyway.

Remember, don't let them give you an excuse that you neglected the ROC by not being proactive.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. There new phone menu system seems to purposely try to keep you from talking to anyone. I will just try options tomorrow until i get a human on the phone and schedule an infoPass appointment right way. I have lived with my wife going on 5 years now so I am not keen on her being deported.

Thanks again,

-J

Choose any option that will allow you to speak with an officer, even if it means choosing Spanish. You can always ask them to speak in English with you. I called recently and didn't have any trouble getting through. I can't remember exactly which sequence I dialed, but I think I chose something like 1, 3, 1,2. Ask to be transferred to a supervisor if the person you are talking with doesn't have information.

So I was able to talk to a person at USCIS and he put in a service request. They said I would receive a response within 15 days. I got a notice in the mail about the service request and that a appointment would be scheduled at my local office. They did not however say when this would be scheduled by. My wife's NOA runs out in 2 weeks so should I being trying to schedule my open appointment at an office to get the stamp, or should I wait? What happens if the appointment is after the expiration date?

Thanks,

-J
