Sorry for taking so long to write the review have been very busy. I was so very worried about having the visa approved because was dealing with many issues with money and changing careers and recent divorce and a fiancée that was 18 and never been out of the province before. So I went back to do everything with her. After ready many reviews of people having a very hard time and being denied for many different reasons. I prepared for the worst armed with a million documents and very well thought out explanation.

I won’t go through the typical walk through. I will just tell you if you are considering going then GO it is well worth it. Just dress nice and be polite and all will go amazingly well. I was 1 of only 3 Americans there that day. Other two were not dressed well and they seem to have little more problems than us. We were not asked hardly any questions I was not even sure the first interview had happened until we were at the second and were basically only asked how we met and if you planned to get married in 90 days then bam we were approved it was amazing. I was very shocked how easy it was after sitting and here many girls being drilled for 20 mins at windows first window took 3 mins last interview was told we were approved in almost less than a min. Each time I was told thank you for coming. I think it makes a big impression for the American petitioner to show up.

Very true. I was there for my wife's USEM interview. The interviews lasted about 3 - 5 mins for each Consulate. The longest part is waiting for your number to come up on the board. We were approved quickly. We even joked with the American Consulate. It does make a difference in showing proof of relationship and commitment. As long as you have all the requirements in the packet, required forms, supporting documents are in order and complete, applicants should not have a problem.

On that time my father was even there with us. He had to wait outside the embassy but it was such a moral support for my wife at that time. She was calm, re-assured and happy.

I understand some petitioners are unable to afford this trip. I suggest reading the VJ guide ask many questions here in VJ. Triple check everything on the forms, supporting documents, Affidavit of support etc... Just when you think you have it all checked. CHECK IT AGAIN!!!

I believe if you can afford it and have the time. Be there for your future wife. What better way to show your fiancee, consulate and your fiancee family how serious and committed you are. Plus you get a chance to see your fiancee country, culture and people.

Once again congrats..!!

Yes I was so supprised we were not asked to show anything. She was not even asked any questions other than how we met and if she planned to marry within 90 days. The American consul told her she was approved before she even finished answering how we met. They were very nice and thanked me for coming. I think anyone who is worried about their petiton should go if they have the budget.

Same thing with us.. they didn't take the proof of on-going relationship documents YM Logs, Phone Logs, Emails etc.. Just the forms LOL!! I look at it like this.. better be over prepared than missing documents. Then having to wait more time in this already long process.. I also saw others there without the petitioner there and some where getting riddle with questions from the Filipino Consulate. I felt bad but had to re-focus on us.

Most that apply get there approves with or without the petitioner being there. Its about having all your requirements in order.

Congrats.

I would have loved to be there when my wife had her interview, money was partly an issue, time was the big issue. Had I gone to the interview, there would have been no vacation time left for me to spend with her on arrival.

Congrats on your approval! :)

I'm still trying to decide when I'd rather go... during her interview or when she's ready to fly so she doesn't have to do it alone (she'll be about 6-7 months pregnant by that time). She wants me to be there when she travels, so that's what we're leaning towards. I wish I could go for her interview and stay until she's ready to travel but I only have a two week window. As optimistic as I am, I doubt we could get it all done within two weeks (interview, CFO, visa delivery, and travel).

I don't believe its very necessary for the USC to be at the interview, Manila is not a difficult embassy. Yes I was there and yes I am still here - we will be flying home next week.

Here is my review of the embassy.

I wanted to go and would have if money and job had allowed me. But it was impossible, for us to do it that way.

None-the-less, my wife flew through with flying colors, very quickly, and the interviewer was very friendly. My wife said it was just like talking with a friend. I sent her 40 pounds of papers because since I couldn't be there I wanted to make sure she had everything under the sun in case they asked, and they asked for very little. She was the only one there that morning who had to bring her documents in using one of those suitcases on wheels, hehe. I personally think it just depends on who is interviewing you.

It all seems like yesterday to me... Hard to believe our son will be 2 years old this summer already.

I wasnt there for my Fiancees Interview although i wanted to.Time and Money was the issue. it is not Necessary but i am sure its better for the USC to be there. The Lady CO at Window 61 is very Strict, But my Fiancee passed. She told me though the entire interview, the final one was focused on me.All kind of Questions about me.She Also said it took 15 mins for the interview!

We were at window 62, so we heard her chewing on people and we were sitting just down from there while waiting and we could hear her from the seats even... she has issues... jeez!

We are down to the short hair, leaving for home Thursday.
