YEAH well husband stuck in Florida. All flights were canceled due to hurricane. Now we waiting to hear if they will close embassy tomorrow too. We faxed what we needed too. BUT we have the originals. So all I can hope for if they remain open that they understand why she doesnt have the originals and hope they are nice to her as we are not there with her. ARranged for our friend to take her to embassy if hurricane passes. WHAT A MESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Soo sorry to read this, how frustrating. Did they open yesterday? What happened? I would be soo stressed out. :(

Thanks sancruz! I can't believe how nice they were! We got some bad info about not needing to pick up her medical and bringing it to the interview. When my hubbie took her to get the TB read they said they would send it over. So when we got to the interview and they asked about it, they said that we were approved but they had to wait for the medical and it could take up to 6 weeks. But then the lady said, its still early, why don't you run over to the medical place and see if he could get it. So, we waited at the embassy and my hubbie went and got it. They let him back in. We went back to the window and the lady gave us the green approval ticket and marked the visa urgent for production! She was so kind! That and the drama of me having my earphones and charger for phone in my purse (no phone or other electronics mind you), so, the over zealous security peeps sent me outside and,ade me get back in line. So, by the time I got in, my husband said they had already called our name. When they called again they asked why we were late. So, my husband explained what they did at security. But from that point on they were very sweet. Talking to my daughter and asking just a few questions. All of that and we were still finished pretty quick and with great success. She loves dragging her suitcase around. So excited to go with us! Thanks to all who answered questions and cheered us along the process. May you all get the outcome you wish for. I can't wait to bring our little gilr home and introduce her to so many things!

Congrats!

Nothing has happened. We did not get to go due to hurricane. They closed the embassy and our appointment was canceled. I facebooked the embassy and they replied back with they will be emailing and calling with a new appointment time. As of yet, 10.31.12, we have not heard from them with a new time. We were stressed as we had to send my husband back home from Florida where he got stuck en route. Another plane ticket. BUT you know what it is what it is. As long as my daughter is safe in Jamaica from the hurricane and everyone is acounted for we can deal with the rest. So now I am just waiting...

Hi everyoone...

I've been lurking here for a while.

On Monday my husband has his interview in Ghana.

We'er still waiting for an interview date for the children. They will be interviewing in Lagos.

Will the children get a date before my husband's interview is completed?

Meaning I was told by NVC that interviews will be scheduled at the beginning of November.

Will they wait for the outcome of his interview therefore spoiling chances for a December date?

So sorry they put them through all that! Too bad you couldn't be there with them. I was worried about the DNA too but they just asked, is she your biologicall child and then a few questions about the late birth registration. Hope this gets resolved for you very soon. We fly out tomorrow!! Wish us luck on two flights with a three year old! I'm especially worried about the Miami to Sfo one since its 6 hrs. Hopefully the ipad power will last that long or she will sleep.

Hi everyone! Just checked the website and we are approved as of 9/26!!! So it took them exactly one week to approve the case after they received the DNA results from the lab. For those of you who have been asking about DNA, we took the test before we even submitted the I-130 for two reasons. First, I didn't want any surprises at the consulate if you know what I mean. But the main reason we did it is because my husband was never married to the mother of his child and his name was not on the birth certificate. I knew that it would be a long shot for them to approve anything without DNA. I think there's still a chance we could have issues at the consulate, but at that point we'll just repeat the test if needed.

Okay, I need to read up on next steps...

I WANT TO DO THIS!!!

It is my understanding that this is how it goes....

Hubby (here in America) will take a DNA test. The facility will send a kit to the embassy in Nigeria where the kids will go and get their test taken. Then the embassy will send it back to the USA. The facility in the USA will run the tests to see if it is a match and then send the results back to the embassy and a copy to hubby here in the States. Please tell me if this is wrong.

Based on the above assumption, if we haven't even gotten to NVC yet, isn't the embassy in Nigeria going to be like....ummm, who are these people!??!?! since we haven't even gotten to NVC stage yet?

If I'm completely wrong, can you please tell me how you guys did the tests. thanks.

I'm so glad to finally see our first aproval!!! and for the rest getting so close!

Quick update on my side of the world:

Hubby and I had his I-130 interview on October 3. Was APPROVED about a week later.

We have switched lawyers and now we will try to get a date with the immigration judge.

I just got a letter in the mail on Friday that now I have to go have an I-130 interview for the BOYS. Not sure what that's all about, but at least we're moving along, people, at least we're moving along!

Hope all of you are well!
