Are witnesses needed for marriage

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. We are getting married in Colorado and the local law says we do not need witnesses to make the marriage certificate valid. But are witnesses required by USCIS or anyone else for any part of the K-1 visa or AOS processes?

Thanks in advance.

If it is not required by the state law, you do what you like. At AOS you will need to show that you have a life together. A valid marriage certificate is only the start, take many photos together wherever you go, open joint bank accounts... etc...

You're married based on the state laws where you get married. USCIS just wants you to be married, they are not concerned with any particular state law regarding the marriage.
