I think your should pay it since the new price is for the visa not for the bank fees, or just wait until Friday does the packet has a due by date.

he got the letter stating the date of interview and his case number, also the medical form, and a form he has to fill out. the letter he is taking to the bank is the blue one. so i guess he'll go pay the 14th or something to see what they say and i guess it will be lower price once at the interview.

I think your should pay it since the new price is for the visa not for the bank fees, or just wait until Friday does the packet has a due by date.

just called the American Embassy in the DR. to find out the lady had no Idea what I was talking about. Al she keep talking about was the bank fee, Bottom line I knew more about the subject than she did. She then directed me to buy a pin so that I call another phone number. Let me know what you find out. lol

they want him to pay that as the bank fee.

K1 Visa fee is currently $350 and will be lowered to $240 effective April 13.

No idea why they want your fiance to pay $140, which is the current Visitor Visa fee.

My fiance wont be going until next Monday and I will see what they tell her. I will probably send her the money on Saturday so she can go first thing Monday morning to get it done. I am almost sure that no one will know what we are talking about because it is all so new. So we probably will all end up paying the $155 at the bank. What Jersey said was kind of scary because if you work with the embassy (even though it is just a call center) you should know about the fees being changed already BUT I guess we will just have to see. I guess I will be the first one to know since I am the only one with an interview date after the 13th so I will keep you all posted.

Once again Mr Miami to the rescue let us know what happens. About the code center thing I think they only offer generic answer. She even told me the website was updated when I clearly told her the last time the website was update was in 2010. Beside think that number that u purchase the pin for that how they make their extra money. Do other countries have to buy a pin to call the visa center.

Changes in visa application fees

From Embassy's website

http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/atc-120409.html

April 9, 2012

Effective April 13, 2012, the United States Embassy announces that the fees for processing non-immigrant visa applications (a category that includes the tourist visa) will go from US$140 to US$160 worldwide, including the Dominican Republic. This increase will allow the Department of State to cover the cost of the security systems implemented as well as improve the visa issuance process.

The fees for the majority of the non-immigrant visa categories and border crossing cards will increase as well, while the visa processing fees for E visas (treaty-traders and treaty-investors) and K visas (for fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens) will decrease.

The current fees will be in place until April 12. For those categories that will experience increases, the payment receipts will be accepted 90 days after the April 13 date, or until July 12, 2012. For those categories that have experienced a reduction in fees, there will be no reimbursement for those who paid before the fee increase date.

For more detailed information on fee rates, please visit press release about New Fees.

I believe that all of that is understood Mr.Tee but I think where the confusion lies is how they will split the cost. Now for example the cost is $350 where $140 is paid to Banco Popular and $210 is paid at the embassy on the day of the interview. So now we are trying to figure out what we will have to pay to Banco Popular as well as the fee to be paid the day of the interview. The crazy thing that I fear is that these changes are so new and they may not be in place within the first few days of the fee changes taking affect. So when I do go to pay at Banco Popular they will still be charging me $140 and then I find out later that I paid too much and can't get my money back. I mean to be honest it is really not a BIG deal but I think that we would all like to have those extra few dollars in our pockets to do other things.
