Hey guys,

Thanks again for all your wonderful help. I need more from you.

All is going well and I'm preparing packet 3 to send off to Sydney! (Well, actually, the consulate still hasn't opened my case... according to AusPost they should have it... I've emailed but with no reply (yet))

I had a couple of questions, but I've forgotten one of them so for now it's just one. xD

What do I do with the pair of DS-156 forms? I know DS-156K is to be filled out and brought to the interview, but it doesn't say what to do with the other ones. What'd you do?

(I'm terrible with dates)


  • Met online May 2008
  • Began dating August 2010
  • Met face to face July 2011
  • Became engaged October 2011
  • Filed Petition for Fiancé Visa October 2011
  • Approved case forward to Sydney Consulate February 2012 (with the wrong email address- caused a lot of stress trying fix)

  • Interview date sent back on April 18 2012 (according to them. I had to email to find out, which I got a reply to on April 26)
  • Interview scheduled for May 15 2012
  • Interview on May 15 2012: VISA APPROVED
  • Visa arrived in hand May 21 2012
  • Hopeful wedding date: July 7
  • Married July 7
  • Filed for AOS several days later
  • April 29, 2013: Immigration requested additional evidence (my medical)

Are you talking about the DS-230 that you already sent and they haven't got? I wouldn't worry about it too much. I sent mine before i sent the rest of my packet three stuff but when i got my interview letter they said they haven't received it yet. It's not a big deal, just take another copy with you to the interview. They take a while to match things up with your file sometimes.

As far as i know you send the DS 156 and DS156K with packet three, that's what i had to do. I think one of them you have to send two copies but i can't remember which it is...

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

DS-156 yes you need two copies after filling in the online form and it generates a bar code. you send both copies in your packet3 with your other files. DS-156K you just need to send in one copy.

I remembered the second question. With evidence, I have a whole lot, should I just take the important stuff? For example I'll take photos and letters, and maybe just some key moments in our chat logs? Because, otherwise, I'll have thousands to print out. =P

Or should I just take it all to be safe?

Or should I just take it all to be safe?

They will probably not ask to see any of it, but just in case they do, take a few select items of evidence to the interview, definitely not thousands of pages.
