And that brings up a question Mr. Sheeshka and I discussed not too long ago.

If we knew in the beginning how hard this was going to be, would we have continued the relationship?

Trav and I briefly discussed that and no question - we would have. We'll be together in the long run, regardless of WHERE we live. It'll sort out, we have no doubt. He's my other half and he's worth any amount of trouble!

USCIS (192 days, August 24 2011 to March 2 2012. No RFE's).
NVC (30 days, March 12 to April 11. Case expedited due to NVC errors).

Montreal US Consulate, awaiting interview date (14 days, April 12 to April 26).

05/09/2012 - medical in Toronto - passed!
05/22/2012 - interview - passed!
05/25/2012 - visa in hand!!! biggrin.png
06/09/2012 - POE @ YWG (Winnipeg Int'l Airport)

Removal of Conditions submitted March 24, 2014, received March 26, 2014

"RFE" for page 3 of application received, date March 27, 2014. Package re-submitted with all papers re-attached.

04/07/2014 - NOA1 Date

05/07/2014 - Biometrics in Charlotte, NC

11/05/2014 - APPROVED! Citizenship in 5 months!

11/10/2014 - NOA2 in hand.

11/20/2014 - 10 yr GC in hand! :D

We came to the same conclusion. All though we would have been better prepared!

I think he's worth it... sometimes...

LOL...we would have submitted our K-1 application a LOT sooner, instead of getting married after 4 or 5 months of gathering papers, and then having to change them all...I told him the other day, do you realize that if we'd just done that I'd likely be there by now? :bonk:

I'm sure we still would have gone the CR-1 route. Even with out the exploding mess our K-1 was.

Tee hee...I'm playing even more hardball with NVC today :D Husband received a reply to his strongly worded email to the congressman that he sent yesterday and told me to go check it out. I did, and replied back to the congressman (from his email) asking if there was anything they could do about the expedite request because we haven't heard anything yet :D mua ha ha ha :D (Thankfully, husband read and approved the message!! :D)

Why thank you ma'am! (said in a Southern drawl while bowing)

And that brings up a question Mr. Sheeshka and I discussed not too long ago.

If we knew in the beginning how hard this was going to be, would we have continued the relationship?

We both knew how hard this would be - we're Jamaicans, and the US embassy here is pretty strict. But we've been through very tough times before, and the Lord has ALWAYS brought us through. So we've been approaching this as we do every other undertaking - ONE step at a time (including my occasional bouts of panicked freaking out LOL). But yes, this relationship is TOTALLY worth this immigration journey!

That's why I'm SOOOO thankful for VisaJourney. All this information and support from strangers around the world... It makes this process a LOT easier to go through. If I didn't learn all the things I have from this website, we'd probably be still waiting on the DS-3032 packet to arrive in the mail from NVC...headbonk.gif And being in a community like this reminds me that hubby and I are NOT alone... there are SO many other people who can identify with our journey!

Don't worry about it being in "Initial review" still on USCIS. There will always be the occasional case where it just doesn't update properly on the site. Technology isn't perfect.

If you look at my spreadsheet, NVC is currently assigning case numbers to NOA2 dates around 3/16. So, for the 3/30 case, you should have a number assigned probably next week.

Actually, no, the parent visa (IR-5) follows the EXACT same path as the IR-1/CR-1 visa. The ONLY thing that's different is that the petitioner needs to include their birth certificate, current marriage certificate (if applicable), and past marriage certificates (if applicable). Everything else is the same.

Thank you Saylin! I feel better that I can be part of this forum! Do I have to keep calling NVC this week or better wait next week?

After one week from NOA2, I always suggest calling every single day, even if it seems you won't get a case number for a bit. There are the occasional cases that get numbers assigned with a week. You'll see some of them on the spreadsheet. Always better to be on top of things if this does happen to one of your cases ;)

Also, make sure that NVC "links" up the cases, similar to a parent/child case.

Saylin, been calling the NVC every day since my DS-3032 was accepted on Monday. The last 2 days they are saying that they are waiting for the new IV fee to be put in the system hence my IV bill has not been generated yet. I would have gladly paid that extra fee if that would have meant getting this thing done early.

And they said they are scheduling interviews now for May. If my case gets complete sometime next week can i expect to get an interview date in May.
