Maybe longer for me then. I didn't file for EAD bc I already work here. I hope I don't have to wait too long!

Not sure. I guess its possible!! I will call them to see if its ok I suppose. I have been reading about it on here this afternoon and maybe it will speed things up? Seems like there is a half and half opinion on whether it helps or not.

stupid question, just for my understanding - if you have an H1B, does that mean you can leave the country whilst AOS is in progress? (without abandoning the application?) if so, then why did you apply for the I-131?

21/2 - received NOA in mail for all 4 (130/485/765/131)

23/3 - biometrics scheduled -> did "early" walk-in on 21 March

06/4 - received email update, interview scheduled for 7th May

27/4 - received EAD

08/5 - email: approval one day after interview (7th May)

H1Bs and L1 visa holders mantain their staus during AOS process. We can travel and work for our current employer ;) i opted not to apply for ead and ap bc my visa is good until Nov.

Not a stupid question, I had to ask before I filed. Others on the forum advised to apply for an AP as there are no additional fees if filing with an I-485 and it provides a bit of insurance as all family is back in Canada.

Loss of H1B job would be one reason an AP would come in handy. Or add/change of job other than H1B position once EAD arrives but before AOS is approved. Or if there were issues at some point in the process and H1B expired prior to AOS approval.
