Birth Certificate

Is there an alternate way to proving my birth? I don't have a birth certificate. My hospital burned down and my mom said when we were in China, birth certificates weren't a big deal so she never followed up. What now!!!

It said on the instructions: "Submit a copy of your foreign birth certificate or other record of your birth that meets the provisions of secondary evidence found in Title 8, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 103.3(b)(2)."

There seems to be another way. But what is it? What does that mean?

Help please!

Once again,I am in your boat. No official birth certificate for me either, since it was not mandatory in my country and I was doing fine enough with my school records.

What I did while filing for AOS: got two notarized affidavits from older relatives (one each from my mother and my maternal aunt) and submitted it with other secondary proof of birth like school records, passport, home driving license etc. I also got a letter issued by my consulate in New York, verifying the above records. Not sure if these would be enough though, I am being told I need to get a non-availability of birth record certificate from my home district in India. I sent the AOS package without the non-availability certificate, but I am in the process of getting this, so that I can be prepared in case of a RFE.
