My Fiance had interview last week and was given g221 to submit our wedding plan, photos, phone bills etc.. along with my fiance's passport..

they returned the passport back yesterday along with a letter saying that our application is put into administrative processing and will let us know about the status of the application..

this is getting us very frustrated.. does someone know how long it takes in general for administrative review at Mumbai US consulate?

also is there a way that I can contact US consulate and talk to them about my case and find out why my application is put into administrative process?

any help is greatly appreciated.

There is no way of knowing how long your AP will last.

If it was due to a simple error (I.e. no date on birth certificate) it will most likely be quicker than AP based on a name check.

The embassy may or may not give you the reasons behind your AP.

You will just have to wait for the time being. If your AP lasts longer than 60 days you can contact your congressman and request them to make an inquiry on your behalf. Sometimes they can help push things along if the visa has been issued but not placed into the beneficiary's passport.

Good luck!

Hello,

AP for MENA(Middle Eastern North African) is either very common or standard due to name checks and other things they look for. There is no timeline for it, and if you email the consulate they will most likley give you the answer I have. Best thing for you is to be patient and ready when they reply with a decision. Good luck and Allah bless.

I am in the same boat. My fiancee had her interview on May 9th at new delhi consulate. At the end of a succesfull interview, She was told by CO, " Congrats, your visa has been approved". You will get your passport back in 5 to 6 days and was handed over a blue pamplet which says " Welcome to America". It has been almost two weeks & we have not received the passport yet. Every time I check her passport on VFS website, it displays the same message: " Your passport in under process at US embassy/ Consulate". On the top of that, when I called DOS, VO says, your case has been put under admin processing and they have not made a decesion yet. I do not understand this, why would they tell her,she is approved for visa and DOS says They have not made a decesion. Any comments, suggestions guy?

Just a happy couple!
