Hi all. Hmm...where to begin?

In the past few weeks my wife and I sent out our DS-230 and I-864 respectively. I actually sent out my I-864 before she did, but about 2 weeks later we finally received some correspondence: "The NVC has received the requested Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230). However, we are still waiting for the Affidavit of Support form." This message was e-mailed to both my wife and me.

It would seem that the address my wife sent her DS-230 to and the address I sent my I-864 to were not the same, so I promptly responded: "Hello, thank you for your e-mail. Actually, the Affidavit of Support form was sent out over 2 weeks ago, so it's my surprise that you have not received it yet. The address I sent it to was:

National Visa Center

Attn: DR

31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100

Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

This is the address I found on the NVC Contact Information page (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html) as I was unable to find any other address in the application guide. Please let me know whether or not you've received the Affidavit of Support forms (I have a joint sponsor). Thank you."

About a week later I received this response (dated March 16th): "This petition is now eligible for further processing. The petitioner, principal applicant, and/or attorney of record will receive an instruction package regarding further processing of this petition." This message was only e-mailed to me, as an Re: to my previous inquiry. Unfortunately, this does not answer my question at all as to whether or not they received my I-864, nor whether my I-864 met the qualifications.

Just yesterday I checked my (physical) mailbox and found a letter from the NVC (dated March 14th) in there stating: "Unfortunately, your inquiry did not contain ALL of the above information (name, NVC case number, petitioner's DoB and name, etc.), and we are unable to provide you a specific response."

-------------

The letter I got in the mail was sent 2 days prior to my most recent correspondence stating that the petition is eligible for further processing...which doesn't exactly add up, since they JUST told me I didn't provide sufficient information to respond to my inquiry...

So basically what I'm asking is, do I just ignore the letter from March 14th saying I need to provide more information? The March 16th letter says we're eligible to move forward and we will be receiving an information package. What package are they referring to? Is this for the interview? About how long does it take? What actions should I take? Should I assume they received my Affidavit of Support form and we qualify?

I send a form, they say they didn't receive it; I ask a question, they tell me they can't answer, then they DO respond, not answering my question, saying we're "eligible" to move forward -- does this mean we ARE moving forward? What package? I'm so confused...any help would be grateful, and I apologize for the long rant. I feel like we're at the end of the whole process, and of course things have to get confusing here. :\

I would also like to add that because the March 16th correspondence was sent only to me, it must clearly be in response to my inquiry...but it doesn't answer my question at all...and the letter in the mail said they CAN'T provide me with a response because I didn't provide sufficient information...but we'll be receiving a package anyways? Ughhh.

The best advice I could have is to call them directly at the operator response line in your link and get the time lags out of your communications. Someone there will , or should, be able to tell you where you stand and what is required. They're used to phone calls and just be polite and have your ducks in a row, they should straighten out any problems that you're having and tell you exactly what/where you are. Best of luck!!

I'd stop sending e-mails and pick up the phone to actually speak to someone about what's going on

When our case was at NVC I think I called every other day
