Greetings to all!!

First, I have found this website to be EXTREMELY helpful in submitting my K-1 packet (which I am about to mail this week!!)

Secondly...after I (USC) have submitted the K-1 petition, here is my question:

Can I leave the US and go wait with my fiancee until the K-1 is granted?

I know how long the K-1 can take, but I am in a fortunate position to where I can afford to take 4-6 months off of work, and even longer if need be.

I am in Chicago, she is in the Philippines.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND ASSISTANCE!!!!

I really do appreciate this community; EXTREMELY helpful!!

Salamat!!

Andrew

Honey.... I MISS YOU!! (F)

Sure. Have someone checking your mail in case you get an RFE. Be prepared to come back to the US, or instruct someone else to respond to the RFE.

Be sure to check the documents you're going to need at the consulate stage. If you take 4 to 6 months off from work will you be able to submit a sufficient affidavit of support?

Andrew, just make sure that you are still earning more than the poverty guidelines for the affidavit of support...

Ohh, i forgot... if you will stay that long, its best for you to apply for a six months which cost $60.00, believe me, this will be less hassle for you than renewing your visa several times in the Philippines... here's the link on what are the requirements: http://www.philippineembassy-usa.org/philippines-dc/consular-services-dc/faq-dc/#nonimmigrant

If you won't do that and opt for renewing your visa in the Philippines, here is the link of the cost: http://www.living-in-the-philippines.com/visa-extension-philippines.shtml
