I recently had my passport photos done. But it was taken so my shoulders are barely showing.

http://travel.state.gov/passport/pptphotoreq/photoexamples/photoexamples_5300.html

looks like the one on the left (first photo) - Mine shows more neck and is a little further away. More white on the top too so my head isn't touching the top of the photo. Im sure it would be okay since it was a professional photo made for passports? I really dont wanna go do them again. Are they so strict enough to reject it because I'm not showing enough shoulders? lol

It should be fine. I couldn't find the specific PDF I was looking for to exemplify it, but here http://argentina.use...ion-package.pdf Go there and scroll down to where it says K1/ K3 VISA PHOTO REQUIREMENTS

They care about the face, not the shoulders.. it is 5x5 inches, right?

"Yes" size does matter !!

The size of the head is critical for the biometrics devices to properly scan your facial features. It measures different points on your face and creates a "facial" signature that is stored electronically. If the face is not centered in the frame or the proportions are off due to cropping the scanner will misread and create an error.

Is it really worth the risk, spend the extra $8 and get the correct size.

My photo is fine. The face is in the middle of the photo and you can see everything. It's just the size I have is not 2 x 2 inch it's 2 x 1.5 inch. 1.5 being the bottom. I dunno what to do now. This is how the photos are done for the passport.

It depends on how they cropped them. If the photo was the correct portion and they just trimmed off the excess you might be ok, but sometime the photo processor will electronically adjust the photo proportions to fit the paper size, and that may throw it off.

Try using this template and a ruler to see if your facial proportion fit correctly.

I saw that... The top part of mine is 2 inches (which is correct size) but the bottom part is 1.5. I don't know if I should get another photo done but this is just how they do it there. It's the actual proper passport photo. I have to go out too like, now. Dunno what to do. To just send it the way it is or try get another photo.

The 2 x 2" thing is not that critical, the distance to the eyes, and the height from chin to top of head IS critical. If the photos you have measure to those proportions you may be ok, if not chuck them and start over. Bring the template with you to the photo shop, they can change to the corrent facial dimensions and print to a larger sized paper which can be trimmed to 2x2

Got a photo done just then. 2x2 inch. Do they care if you can see the black writing on the photo? It kinda came through the photo and you can even feel the letters lol. Maybe I pushed too hard.
