I did not even realize it was now. I might do Thanksgiving ....we have a turkey in the deep freeze just waiting for an occasion.

WHAT!!!!!!?????? I hope you haven't forgotten your Canadian roots!!!) :( That's a no-no for me..........I can't get enough Canadian, I am so homesick that I can't imagine any place else (and I only live an hour and a half away from the Canadian border....if hubby was off work, we'd drive to New Brunswick just to be in Canada for a Thanksgiving dinner even if it is at a restaurant :innocent: ) but that's the downside of falling in love with a foreigner or as we're called an 'alien' and I love him more every day (L) .......... :P HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and yours....{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

My husband and I are driving from Baltimore to Rhode Island, and my parents are driving from Montreal to Rhode Island and we're all meeting up tomorrow evening at 6pm and we're going to stay with my relatives in Rhode Island for a family Thanksgiving :) My relatives in Rhode Island did the same thing I am doing now, only back in the early 70's.. they left Montreal because they were in love with American boys in Rhode Island, only their immigration process was MUCH EASIER BACK THEN lol so anyways, my husband gets to meet my American/Canadian family for the first time and see my parents again and my brother and I can't WAIT! We're both so excited, we don't even care that it's going to take 6 hours to get there.

YAY :) Happy Thanksgiving to you all :)

We almost drove up to Middletown RI this weekend!! Instead they are coming this way heading to Florida, lol. Wife and I may still head to RI for the USA thanksgiving and just chill!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

i'll be watching hockey games (got my NHL centre ice package today! ) and eating pumpkin pie.

i'll miss seeing my family, although i've not been away all that long, but i'll not miss the turkey roll and stove top stuffing. it was my sister's turn to have dinner & that's what we got the last time! LOL

happy turkey weekend everyone

k

I was looking into NHL Center Ice ... I am a major Vancouver Canucks fan and I heard that they have alot of their games on it ... Only problem is living in Illinois I would be 2 hours ahead on home games so might be some late nights :)

i'm just a plain old fan of hockey, with no favourite team. i'll watch anything. during lockout i was at a junior game and or the marlies every week and if i wasn't there, i was watching it on tv. i used to work in the industry so depending who i like more on one team is the one i'll root for on a particular night. it's hard some games so then i just hope the guys i like get points.

Well, what a lovely way to celebrate Thanksgiving! How perfectly appropriate:-). I hope you have a wonderful weekend and an absolutely flawless border crossing on Monday.

Well, hubby and I are going to Pagan Pride in Asheville on Saturday (its not thanksgiving, but more of a harvest ritual, which is basically the same thing :P )

And then on Sunday I may just bbq myself a turkey breast. James doesn't eat bird of any kind, so its aaaaaaaalllllllll for me :D I have to work, and I'm not eligible for vacatoin time til November 1st, so I'm trying to find out if I can take a week of during American thanksgiving so I can go home to visit. That way I'll have the holiday and with my 3 days vacation, plus my birthday holiday they didn't let me take at my birthday, I'll have a whole week. I wanna go home to see the show Wicked, playing in TO only until November 26th.

Thanksgiving has always been a weird holiday for us dual citizens. It seems to come too early if you're in Canada. And no one there wants to roast a bird in November. Confusing.

But it IS the holiday of the harvest, which comes earlier in the north, and I hear it's been chilly in Toronto, going down to near freezing. Here in Jersey, it's a lot milder, and will stay pleasant for another month.

So here I am in northern New Jersey, by myself, and working on Monday. Maybe I'll go to Dunkin Donuts to see if they have a turkey favoured muffin. They seem to have everything else!

Well, we carried a chicken-leg ("drumstick" -- because we're both from South India originally, I avoid using this term) curry for our journey and consumed some of it with chapatis for breakfast; the rest, with pilaf will be dinner.

Doing a compromise here - instead of turkey making a roast chicken with sage stuffing, baked squash with a cinnamon, butter and honey sauce, scalloped potatoes and a green vegetable with peach pie for desert. Talked with my brother and his family in Stittsville today - just missed my Dad, he was driving back to Kingston - and just enjoying a beautifully sunshiney day. The first leaves are beginning to hint at changing colour here - some yellows and orange highlights among the abundant green. Yep, fall is coming - even if it is still in the 80s outside. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
