Travel concerns... Again

Hi,

I just had to ask this. I know it`s been discussed before but I`m just getting more and more nervous about it so I thought I`d just ask you.

I`m a Russian citizen, going home for a visit. Bought tickets (like everybody says to) in my maiden name,which is the name in my passport, have a permanent GC with my married name to show when coming back to the US. My Problem is though.. I did it 2 years ago and ran into some problems. At Sheremetyevo airport going back to the states they couldn`t print out a boarding pass for me because the ticket was in my maiden name and GC in married. I had my marriage certificate and a stamp in my passport showing my married name. And still they couldn`t do it. I was almost late for the flight when they decided to just hand-write a boarding pass for me.I had called Delta last time and they said it wouldn`t be a problem. Well, obviously, it was.

Has this happened to anybody else? what do i do this time?

My wife just came back from Moscow last week. Exact same situation as you. Departing from Sheremetyevo-Warsaw-Chicago on Lot Airlines. No problem whatsoever.

We had the same issue in London, and the marraige license solved it. They did take a copy of the license.

This has always been a hit or miss situation. I think some of the custom officers just want to make you sweat for having left Mother Russia. If you can, get the boarding passes printed out before you get to the airport. It should not be a problem, but some times you just find the wrong person. Good luck and think positive.

We did it the other way around, tickets and green card in married name but passport in maiden name with the name stamp. Never had any problems to Russia or any other countries we have traveled to.
