My sister is US.Citizen .She sponsored her cousin for visit and he came on B-2 visa .But after coming here her cousin applied for asylum .Now she is worried .What about her ? Will this put her in trouble ? Can she sponsor her fiance in future or not ? When she sponsor her fiance ,is it necessary to mention the sponsoring her cousin while her cousin got tourist visa ?

Where is her cousin from? Syria,Cuba, North Korea...if she has a good case she may succeed with her application. Did your sister know of her intentions? If she didn't then there is nothing to worry about i believe.

Financially, the "sponsoring" of a tourist visa doesn;t matter at all, as it holds no legal water.

There is no such thing as sponsoring someone on tourist visa, but it is recorded in the system that your cousin mentioned your sister as relative in US.

Is there really a reason to apply for asylum or it is just another trick to continue to live in US?

What Country?

She is from Pakistan and she applied for asylum due to religious persecution .

I seem to remember there is a small Jewish community in Pakistan.
