Well I guess i got lucky cause my Fiance (USC) removes his shoes all the time in his house :P

Im from montreal so heres what I am going to miss : Poutine (off course) and smoked meat. And probably the famous gravy sauce that everybody eats here with their chicken. I heard the gravy down there is not even close to be good. I will probable bring a box of those little pouches with powder mix to make both Poutine and BBQ gravy ;) As for poutine cheese curds seems to be available around NY, Vermont and Maine, but not around Illinois. I may have to drive up to Wisconsin to get some.... What will i do for a poutine lol.

i got lucky there is a grocery store with a french section and they got my favorite jam that I buy here in Montreal :)

'Oh don't bother taking off your shoes!!" But I take them off cause I don't want to mess their floors up....Go Figure.............................{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

My mother in law told me not to take my shoes off because my socks will get all dirty. I said my socks wouldn't get all dirty if everybody just removed their shoes at the door :P

I gave up trying to get people to remove their shoes now, but I swear if it ever did snow here, they'd change their habits!

As a USC with my husband in Canada - these are my favorites he's always enjoying that I can't have! (but LOVE) Canadian-Chineese Food, Fries & Gravy, Tim's Honey Crulers, Stronger beer, Pizza Delight, Irving Food, Moose, oh my list could go on and on!

Here's a "custom" that I would like Americans to adopt - removing your shoes when you enter a house. I found it strange at first, but now I wish everyone removed their shoes when they come to mine!

Yes, Remove your damn shoes ! Drives me crazy. Starting to get my husband in the habit. Drives me nuts when I wash the floors and two mins after there dry he's walking in with his shoes.

Oh and I MISS SMARITIES !!!!!!!!!

:lol:

My Canadian wife has a small sign hanging on the outside of the back door that says -

"The floors are clean, the place is neat

Dammit, at least wipe your feet!"

I'm only heading as far as Boston, so the climate will be similar, if a bit less wintery, and I'll be able to get back for a visit fairly often (once I get AP anyway), but I'll definitely be missing Aero bars and poutine and St-Hubert chicken and my FI already knows we'll have to come back for at least the Jazz fest in the summer.
