I used a digital camera and dye sublimation printer. printed 4 2X3 photos on 4X6 photo paper and trimmed them to 2X2. Total cost for 4 photos: 25 cents.

I am here in Canada with my husband and not currently working. I purchased said technology goodies last year when I was working, when we had money for said tech goodies. Now we are living on one check. I have a joint sponsor to meet the poverty guidelines and have a job offer to return to the states. I had passport photos done in downtown Ontario for canada immig. and they weren't $5 here, so I hope this all clears it up for ya.

You can mee tthe poverty guidelien and still not have aton of money to throw around...125% above poverty was ASTONISHGLY low in my opinion.

Yeah my yearly salary met the guidelines to file for a family of 8 I think...or 9...but I was broke! I live paycheck to paycheck...not extravagantly...but, tickets to Australia, visa costs, etc. aren't cheap.

I got 6 passport pictures from CVS R/X for $6.95 + tax... After that, I had the option of copying a bunch of them, thanks to the Kodak picture maker - $6.95 + tax per page.

We did our own photos at home, for immigration and then for Ryan (the USC) to get his very first US passport (lol, he'd never bother to get one before we got married and I was going through immigration). We printed them out at Target, and they were taken at the exact same angles and lighting levels etc, yet mine were rejected for AOS (our interviewer asked very politely if we minded running to the pharmacy down the road and getting new ones for me) and his were accepted for both his passport and for my AOS. Weird!
