Hi there,

We are waiting for the medical results so we can send in packet 3, so we're working on DS-156 and DS-156K and there are a few things we're not sure of.

1. Question 2 on DS-156,Place of Issuance, Australians don't know the place of issuance other than "Australia" for the state, right? So does he just put NA for the state and country?

2. Question 32 on DS-156, Do you plan to study in the US? He does plan on going back to school in a year or so, but does not know where or when. What should we put? Yes, school unknown?

3. For documents to include with DS-156K, what do they want for evidence of engagement?

Lastly, slightly unrelated, don't you have to leave your passport with them when you go for the interview?

1. No. I know mine was issued from Melbourne (that's where it was sent). So mine says 2. Melbourne Australia Victoria.

2. some people put yes and school unknown. I put "No" because I have nothing planned and nothing organised. There's nothing wrong with changing your mind.

3. Nothing. You prove that at the interview.

Yes. You leave your passport and they will mail it back in the envelope you're supposed to give them at the interview.

Thanks so much! I figure since you were so helpful with those questions, I have one more for you. My fiance just got his medical results back. He got one paper with his personal/biographical info and one with a bunch of bar code stickers on it. Is this all he needs? We found this kind of odd, which makes him a little nervous. Just want to make sure we have everything straight, before we send off Packet 3 on Monday, finally. Thanks in advance!

Barcode stickers??? Do the forms have numbers on them? He should have one that is his list of immunisations (form DS-3025) and looks like this: http://www.craigandgingrogers.com/uploads/5/0/6/4/506438/4299906.jpg?600 except it'll have his stuff on it. The medical results SHOULD have been an envelope with his name on it...

He did say he got his x-ray too. However, there is definitely no envelope. Does this mean that they are sending them separately or that they sent them to the consulate? If so, what would be a reason to send it to the consulate? Seems like there should have been some sort of explanation with what he did get. This whole process is so frustrating. He's going to call the doctor tomorrow (Monday morning) to see what they did, but until then, I am kinda freaking out..

It's okay. Don't freak out :) (easier said then done). A simple call will sort it all out and he'll be good to go :D In the event the panel physician did something wrong they ARE controlled by the embassy so he will be able to get it rectified without cost. So it'll be okay :)
