So maybe i am overlooking something but i have seen several posts from people who have scheduled an interview before even receiving and NOA2. 1 - is that possible, 2 - how can you schedule without the receipt of your NOA2? i was under the impression that would contain a comfirmation you needed to move forward, and 3 - whats the real advantage to scheduling it now instead of waiting to know for sure the approval will be here in time for the interview? in the end it seems to me that would result in several scheduling changes....

No one has scheduled an interview before receiving their approval notice (I-797) NOA2, in fact you can't even schedule an interview until after NVC receives the packet and it gets an embassy case number assigned to you. Even then you could end up in AP and won't be able to get your interview scheduled.

Now many have scheduled their interviews before receiving the letter from NVC with their case number as they call NVC and get their case number and proceed from there without the letter.

Agreed! Even though you maynot have a letter (Hard Copy) NVC call give you a Case Number. Then you can proceed..... Nothing can really be done with a NOA1. Give the NOA2 time to even happen.

You cannot schedule before getting the approval notice. I am not sure where you read about people doing so. For Juarez, you need to wait until they receive your case file, and then you will need to call NVC to get your case, invoice and beneficiary ID numbers before you can fill out the DS-260 and make your appointments. See this thread for more info: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/318913-call-cd-juarez-to-make-sure-they-received-our-k1-approved-file/

Maybe I misread the posts but I was fairly confident that was what they were implying. The one post was about someone who was trying to finish submitting the rest of what they needed for an RFE, which would mean no NOA2 right? And then 5 seconds later was talking about how he had scheduled the interview.....

Its not a big deal, I was just wondering why anyone would do that anyways.

I just need to get my NOA2 so I can stop stressing about the RFE's and the next step ;)
