AOS and IV Ready to Send

VJers,

I am excited to go to the next phase in VJ. And I am about to send off my AOS and IV applications. Could you please take a look at this and see what I am missing? I've been prepping these forms since July.

AOS:

1. I-864 bar-coded cover sheet

2. I-864 Form, Affidavit of Support

3. 2008 – 2010 Tax Return Transcripts

4. 2008 – 2010 Federal Tax Returns and W-2s

5. 2011 W-2 (I have not yet filed my 2011 Federal Tax Return as of this date)

6. Official Proof of Service Letter (Letter of Employment)

7. Leave and Earnings Statements (LES) (most recent paystubs)

IV:

1. Four (4) Passport-size photographs of beneficiary

2. DS-230, Application for Immigrant Visa

3. Photocopy of the biographic data page(s) of beneficiary’s passport

4. Certified Birth Certificate of beneficiary (with translation provided)

5. Certified Marriage Certificate (with translation provided)

6. Original Police Certificates for beneficiary (from Vietnam and Australia)

7. Photocopies of all the above documents

You don't need the tax returns with W-2's if you are submitting transcripts.

I thought you only had to provide a translated copy of any documents that are not in English or in the official language of the country in which the application for visa is being made. In your case the documents are in Vietnamese and the visa application is being made in Vietnam, correct?

I know at the USCIS level you are required to provided translated copies of documents that are not in English.

Can someone confirm if this is correct or not?

I thought you only had to provide a translated copy of any documents that are not in English or in the official language of the country in which the application for visa is being made. In your case the documents are in Vietnamese and the visa application is being made in Vietnam, correct?

It's country specific, for some countries translations of civil documents from the official language of the country to English are required (China is an example of this).
