Today, I submitted an iquiry request with the CISOMBUDSMAN to look into my case. I am an August filer that have still not gotten my NOA2. Was that a mistake? I said that I had gotten engaged then Filed I-129F that got approved. I mentioned that I had done so due to not knowing that getting married in Egypt constituted a legal marriage in the US. I mentioned that I then filed an I-130 so that added to the endless wait. And now Egypt is in turmoil and I am worried for my the safety of my wife.

I am having second thoughts on this, I don't know why. Please share your thoughts with me :)

CSC is currently processing I-130 petitions from July. Based on VJ member timelines and some stats pulled by a member named Paisaman they appear to be working July 10-11 or so. I would plan on waiting another month or so before you get a reply from CSC.

Im in the same boat as you but I only filed an I-130 only, they recieved it on April 12, 2011. I ended up writing an email to the congressman and doing a service request AND wirting a letter to CISOMBUDSMAN serveral times and the only thing I recieved from them was that they are doing an extensive background check and they will get back to me within 6 months, that was from the service request. But it will be 9 months and a week since I sent it and still no reply :( I recieved the extensive background check letter on Friday

When I got the letter about the extensive background check I was soooo disappointed cuz I was expecting some good news. I still dont understand why they need extensive background check. I've never done anything wrong, dont have any loans under my name and never had late payments on anything. I just hope they reply back soon cuz Im losing hope. And 9 months is a long time compared to the 5 month timeframe on their website

I am sorry to hear that as that sucks.

Are you saying that if the petitioner has a criminal background that he/she will be subjected to an extensive background check that will delay the petition for several more months? Yet you have no history of such, and you are being subjected to it. Maybe your name had a "hit" on the database and prompted this. I did not think the petitioner would have the petition denied or delayed deeply for any criminal offenses in the background except those of a "National Security Concern" or "Adam Walsh offenses", (crimes involving children). Is that correct or will any criminal offenses trigger such an extensive inquiry?

That is NOT what I am saying or even trying to say. I was TRYING to say I have nothing in my name for them to have an extensive background check on. Sorry if you thought thats what I was implying but its not. No offense to anyone if anyone took what I said too offense.
