I'm new to this website. I am from Grosse Pointe MI. my Fiancee is from Enugu Nigeria. I plan to have all my paper work ready to go in 1-2 weeks. I have many Q'S,I hope you can help.

Q#1. Do I need to include my fiancee's birth certificate in the evidence file?

Q#2. Will my Niegerian fiancee be able to use a Court Affividat of Birth instead of an Orginal birth certificate?

Q#3. Is there a choice of of what Embassy?. He wants to go to Abjua (closer) I thought he had to go to Lagos.

#1 - not initially but at the interview

#2 - country specific answer required

#3 - Embassy selection? no, A country has but ONE embassy...but can have several consulates... Lagos is the only Consulate in Nigeria to do "K" visas.

-If you're about to file, only your proof of citizenship (birth certificate or whatever else it could be) should be included. They'll need his at the interview stage.

- I'd suppose so but ask on country based forums (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/89-africa-sub-saharan/)

- Lagos is his consulate

Good luck!

#2 he needs birth Certificate from the NATIONAL POPULATION COMMISSION... They have branches all over. My mom did not have to wait two weeks 9 but I have read a lot of people saying they waited that long). like Chinma said. he neds to go with a court affidavit sworn by relatives( preferrably mother) fee, passport photo.

1. Birth certificate is not required during the K1 application process only at your interview.

2. As others have stated, go to the National Population Commission to get the long form of your birth certificate.

3. Lagos is your only choice for processing K1 visas.
