Please i want to know if any one has gone for interview in Nigeria during the sit at home national strike from Labour? I was told Embassies dont care if you are on strike but how can one get to the embassy when there is no movement?

I would suggest to review the us embassy in nigeria website for any warrnings and try to contact the embassy. My husband is from Egypt and during the uprisings back in January the embassy was closed. At that time the embassy has rescheduled all the interviews from january till april till later dates. Contact the US embassy office in Nigeria. Good luck.

Notice Regarding Operations During the Week of January 9, 2012:

Both the Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate in Lagos are open during normal business hours for visa interviews and American Citizen Services.

Non-immigrant visa applicants in Abuja are reminded that if they miss their scheduled appointment, they must send an e-mail to ConsularAbuja@state.gov within 24 hours of the time of their missed appointment, indicating name, passport number, time and date of the appointment, and reason for failure to show, in order to reschedule without payment of an additional application fee.

Due to the strike, until further notice successful applicants in ABUJA should come to the Embassy from 2:30pm-4.00pm, Tuesday through Thursday, to retrieve their passports and visas. Applicants or their proxies should present their appointment letters when retrieving visas, and should not return for pickup until at least two days after their interviews.

Applicants in Lagos should take note that if they are concerned they may not be able to keep their appointments, they can and should reschedule online. While the Consulate plans to remain open during normal business hours, if there is a need to close, applicants will be contacted by the call center for rescheduling.

I was scheduled for 13th of Jan.didnt have my interview,cos d embassy had rescheduled all immgrant applicants on friday only

Ken had his interview on thursday.Business is going on as usual at the lagos embassy.

There is movement is the early morning/evening of strike day.if u drive,drive early down,if not book an hotel near d embassy.I opted to stay with a friend,who drove me 5mins away from d embassy on my interview day.

So if ur interview falls on d strike day...u definately r expected at d embassy,except u opted not to,n shld mail d embassy in dis regard.

The embassy is open. The protests are at peak from 7am till about 5-6pm/ so plan to leave home way before then and arrive at the embassy and wait till evening after your interview before going home...be ready to be exploited on transportation fare unless you have priate driving arrangements....Also keep following the Us consualte website for any updates.

They sggest if you feel you cannot make it due to the strike, email them for interview rescheduling or something like that... stay safe.

Now you sound like a parent scolding a child. I saw the statement but thought it was supposed to read "I pray it is NOT postponed cos I aint financially ready for it".

I agree that if you know it is not the best time for you then email them to reschedule.
