Minimum Yearly Salary Question

My fiance is a filipina currently working in Israel. She is a wonderful woman and we started out as friends for a long time before falling in love. Needless to say, with the new occurrences between Israel and Iran I am wanting her to leave that place as soon as possible.

Now with that said, I am putting up for the paperwork to be completed for her to come to America to live with me but I am 8 months off of active duty. I am searching for a job but with my active duty mental health technician rating, it is not easy to find a job in that field.

1. I am wanting to use my GI Bill but am not finding, anywhere, statements regarding whether the living stipend ($1550 per month) would work as proof that I can care for her.

It meets the $18,000 per year requirement, but I cannot find anywhere stating that it is considered a salary...and have no clue who else to ask...thus my registry and question here.

2. If worst comes to worst, I may be able to talk my parents into sponsoring her over here, but I would like to work on getting a job in the meantime (everything must be done with haste to give her the opportunity to get out of Israel before the inevitable war begins). But my parents are concerned of the consequences, of which there are many, and I am curious if I can legally take away their sponsorship after she is in the states and I can prove I can care for her basic needs.

Any help would be lovely...I fear for my love daily and am dealing with PTSD as well, so the faces of war become faces overlaid with images of hers. I need her to be safe, so those of you who know and choose to help are greatly appreciated.

I believe a GI Bill is to used for School and Training purposes and is not counted as Income or qualified employment.

Additional, it seems questionable. Some say yes, and some say no.

&& The GI Bill is only used for College and with that comes the BAH, but that's only if you are enrolled in college. so i guess that's a No since is not Taxable, that might only proof you have enough to pay your rent and your college books ETC. That is not a Salary or a Job.

I agree. The money is to used for school/training to find future work. Not Petition a Finacee.

I also think by calling the some idiot from the US Goverment is No means of good advice. Ultimately, it will be up to in your case the Philippine Consulate and I would be worried and terrified submitting Income on a GI Bill.

1. correct - must be W-2 income, usually. Can show assets, use the asset definitions in the I-864.

2. sure, can run the math on the parents, see if they qualify.

2.a. the I-134 is a non-binding agreement, unlike the I-864. So , your parents will NOT be on the hook after the 90 day window past the POE date.
