Hey guys! I just was wondering if maybe someone could help me out. I fell in love with my boyfriend and I want to move to the states and finish my college and later on University. I'm currently finishing my first year of college and I am wondering if its possible to get a student visa so I can finish my studies in L.A, California where my boyfriend lives. I live in Canada and I was wondering how long this process can take because we really wanna be with each other. I just came back a few days ago and I am going to see him in April...and the four months being apart is hard for the both of us. So the faster I can get there the better!

I also one day hope to become a resident there as well because we see our future together

Thank you so much for any help It will really help me!

A student visa is a F1 visa. It is easy to get one as long as you have the funds (college fees in the USA are high, and the F1 visa only lets you work limited hours on-campus). First, you need to be accepted by a US college. They will help you get the visa by giving you the I-20 forum. A student visa does not lead to a greencard, but may lead to a job after college with a work visa that can lead to a greencard.

I got a student visa and I can tell you it is remarkably expensive to go to school in the US as an international student.

The first thing you have to do is get accepted into a US college, then get your I-20, then you can use it for your student visa. Canadians are lucky as they can apply for the visa at the port of entry, however you need all your ducks in a row before that.

First step is to find out how much it costs to attend college where you want to go, then figure out what the requirements for international students are (keeping in mind that your 1st year may not completly transfer) then apply (if you can afford it) .

Good luck
