According to the USCIS website, my biometrics letter was sent on Monday, January 23rd!! WOO HOO!! For those of you who did early biometrics, is it easy enough as just showing up any day with the required documentation?

Well, I walked up to the lady checking the paperwork, and was like "Hello, is it cool if I do biometrics earlier than my appointment day?" and she was like, "Yeah, come on in". So I mean, I'd definitely ask if its ok, but it's generally ok with them.

Hi, fellow January 2012 filers -

We just sent my husband's N-400 yesterday. We were in no rush (he was eligible to send it since last July) but he could really use an American passport for work since Bulgaria and Romania have different entry requirements than the rest of the EU for many countries. So we are (or technically, he is) back in the USCIS games! Hopefully for the last time ever. Good luck to us all!

We've been to two walk-in biometrics now. Last year we said "we were on this side of town and wondered if we could take care of this today instead of spending an hour trying to get here during rush hour traffic for an 8AM appointment". (Which was the truth)

Last week hubby just handed her the letter, greencard, and photo id and she handed him the clipboard and form to fill out along with the study guide (with cd inside). We went both times around 2-3:00 when they weren't busy. I think afternoons are the best time to try walk-ins. It will depend how nice they are in your local office. Check the hours of your office. Like Pandawars, I just checked the USCIS website and my biometrics letter was mailed on 23rd. :dance:

We are taking a trip to visit family in SLC in early February, so if my date clashes with that then I might see if we can get away with an early biometrics walk-in. If it doesn't then I will just go on my scheduled date.

My co-worker did her Citizenship last year, but she was in the Army reserves. So she got a personal email from an IO when they got her paperwork and was told to email them any time if there were any issues and that she could go in at any time for her biometrics. So she got to walk in and was taken care of immediately. She got her citizenship approved within less than 2 months as well. :thumbs:

You probably could go to the closest one and say "you're closer so can you do this here" ::handing them letter::. But what if they scheduled you at the least busy one because the other office was backed up? Just try it. All they can say is no.

I had a chat with all the workers while hubby was processing. The head guy said they have been swamped for two months and are one of the busiest offices. He said, some offices only handle 4-5 all day and he doesn't know how they justify keeping them open. But both times I've been in the afternoon, there's been just one person waiting with machines open and workers standing around talking. They must be quite busy in the mornings because in the outer chamber/entry area there is a sign that says-- wait here and do not enter until 30 minutes before your appointment time.

Just had my fingerprint and photo taken. In and out in literally four minutes; that includes security check at the door, fill up form, get called, FPs and photo taken, and walk back to the car. Three hours of driving (each way, total 6) for a four minute task which can be (and had been) done pretty much everywhere ... hmm :( /rant /rant

btw, the lady said they are really trying to speed this N400 thing up nationwide. If no police records and clearance turns up fine, their 'goal; is to set a schedule in a month :D

Yay!!!! Congrats for taking your FP! :dance: That is some great news that they wanna speed up the process. Wait a minute... you mean to say they wanna set a schedule within a month if they are no police records and clearance is fine? As in have the entire N400 process in a month or schedule an interview in a month? :D

Yay!!!! Congrats for taking your FP! :dance: That is some great news that they wanna speed up the process. Wait a minute... you mean to say they wanna set a schedule within a month if they are no police records and clearance is fine? As in have the entire N400 process in a month or schedule an interview in a month? :D
