My husband will soon be leaving for Morocco, and for how long, one can never be sure. However, I wanted to inquire how you coped with the separation. As I have read many of the VJ members stories, and am saddened and joyed by obstacles being overcomed. How do you cope? Just thinking of being apart tears me apart. I am sad for our 15-month-old son as well. I definitely think there should be support groups, and many of my friends and family members do not understand how daunting this process can bed. This will probably be the hardest times of our lives. It will make us grow stronger of course! I am from Atlanta, and would love to join others going through this experience for added support!

I am curious as to why he is leaving? How did he get to USA? If he leaves will he have a ban for any kind of overstay?

Why did you file 130 instead of just AOS if he was already here? (that is not entirely legal but done often)

How long you been married?

I am sorry and I feel your pain.

Good Luck

Girlfriend...it might sound shallow but it becomes a whole lotta internet time!!!

You tend to see what time there is good for you and coincide it here to talk and see each other on the cam

And the time spent together in the past...face to face, hand to hand and side by side is more cherished.

I believe it makes your love stronger. GOD has his reasons and you make the best and learn from all lessons in life.

This site is such a blessing for knowledge and some comfort knowing you are not the only one going through things....

Welcome to VJ

I too dont understand why you would file this way if i read that your husband was already here???

It's hard. Our son was 3 when he left the US and turned 6 one week after he returned. It was the single hardest thing I've ever had to endure in my life and it's scarred my son and I deeply. Having said that, time and some serious counseling heal all wounds. Just now we are finally starting to all feel normal again. We had to adjust to being separated and then adjust again to being together. My advice is to go stay with him if you can. Only stay in the US if you absolutely have to. If you cannot live there then try to visit a couple times. Make sure he has internet service and Skype so you can do video chats regularly. Honestly though, my husband was gone so long that our son eventually got tired of Skype and didn't want anything to do with him.

I also wanted to add that your husband has to get a job. Absolutely must have a job. It will keep him busy while he waits. If he doesn't need the waiver things should progress quickly, but if he does need the waiver it will take a bit longer. Rome handles waivers from moroccan applicants and they take about 6 months to issue a decision. If Lizz is your lawyer I believe you are in good hands.

I really wish you the best of luck for his speedy return.

what are you talking about "not entirely legal" ? Of course it's legal. The INA provides for adjustment of status for those who overstay their visas when marrying a US citizen. Things that aren't "legal" are adjusting status when you've entered without inspection therefore the applicant must leave the country and file applicable waivers. The OP's situation is different than either of those but rest assured if something wasn't legal you better believe USCIS wouldn't allow it to happen.

My husband actually entered originally on a K1 visa in 2008, which cannot adjust status in the US. He and his ex had broken up before their wedding. We met several months later. That's why he has to do consular processing in Morocco, which is going to SUCK. lol Thank you everyone for the kind words and wisdom. I am going to Morocco to stay with him a few weeks, but I am school and working full time, so I cannot live with him right now while we wait.

Why is he leaving? Did a lawyer say he had to leave? Or did government deport him?

If he leaves will he have a 10 year ban for his overstay?

I asked 4 questions. I made no statements.

I have a girlfriend who has been here 10 years and the governement is going to deport her. She is aware. She has a lawyer. They do not always drag a person to ICE and THROW them out of USA.

Why are you so hostile? You need to relax and enjoy the New Year.

I pray the New Year brings you peace and happiness in your heart.

God Bless You

Why do people respond with irrelevant comments? My original post inquires how others are coping with being separated from their loved ones. If you have not experienced and/or or do not have anything to say related to my question , then just move on to the next post that you can make judgments and/or negative comments elsewhere. Thank you and good day.

I can tell you that it has been hard to be seperated from my fiance, but we try to have some form of contact everyday. This is either by sending texts, facebook messages, email or having a video chat. Yes each day apart can feel like a lifetime, but it is also one day closer to being together again. There have been days though that even this contact is not enough and the tears come and I feel alone without Ahmed to hold me. I know one day soon he will be here, so this helps some. Stay strong and know that we are here to listen and provide support for you.
