POE entry December 2011 waiting for Green card and SSC

Hi,

I entered in USA yesterday on Cr1 visa. I would like to the estimate time it takes to receive the green card and Social security card.

I am sure there are loads of people entered on Immigrant visa during Nov/Dec.

Please inform us the time it took you to receive both card..

It usually takes a few weeks to get the green card. But remember, you shouldn't really worry about getting the green card as the stamp in your passport acts as a temporary one for up to a year.

As for the SSN, if you don't get it within 3 weeks from POE, then go to your local SSA office and apply there.

Hi. I got here on December 4th. I got my SSC in just over a week. On the same day I received the welcome later from USCIS. I haven't got my green card yet but not expecting it to be too much longer. I have taken my driving test (!) and now have a Georgia driving license.

In our case, the reverse of what is usually posted here has happened. My wife received her SSN about a week and a half after she arrived. However, her green card has not yet arrived; I will give it another week and then I will call USCIS.

I wouldn't fret about the green card. It took 19 days to get mine from POE and that was in May. You have to remember, it's holiday time in the US right now, so it's probably going to take a bit longer to get your green card.

I called USCIS today. My file has been sent to Texas Service Center. Unless and until someone there manually enters me in the system, I won't be receiving my welcome letter or GC. I realize that I won't be the one who brags about getting the GC 3 weeks after entry....Oh well.

Here is my timeline. (Don't remember too much about the last 14 years of processing but here are some recent ones)

Dec 12, 2011: Interview Notice at MTL

Jan 04, 2012: Interview - Denied 221(g), Documents Needed

Jan 25, 2012: Passport Sent to MTL via CSC mail.

March 13,2012: Visa received. APPROVED

April 7, 2012: POE - Toronto Pearson

May 10th, 2012: No GC yet, called USCIS, learned that file sent to Texas from POE.
