Help! My husband and I don't want to pay 250 for a new physical if I had one over seas less than a year ago and it is still valid. I recieved an rfe for my AOS because I am required to submit the i-693. I thought I was in the clear because i am a k-1 and I recieved my medical in ecuador less than a year ago.

I made an appointment with infopass and they told me I still had to get it done here by a civil surgeon. I have looked everywhere for a civil surgeon that wont charge us too much and i stumbled on people who are saying we only need it to be transcribed. Can someone please explain this to me!! and what is a DS 2503 or whatever?! help me!!!! thank you (:

When you leave the medical, you are normally given a DS form that lists the vaccinations you have had. When you call the Civil Surgeon you need to ask for a vaccination transcription, rather than a medical. Some, but not all, offer this for a much reduced fee. All they need to do is transfer the record of vaccinations from the medical (and sign off/detail any you have had since then .. ie boosters or not-available vaccs from your home country) onto the I-693.

Some people skip through the AOS process without getting it done, but they normally RFE for it (as you have discovered).

omg!! ahh thank you!! but ok remember that sealed envelope the doc overseas gives you and you give it to the embassy. i cant remember if after my embassy interview they gave it back...

do i need it to turn it in with the i-693 or to the doctor or do they have it on record that my medical overseas was complete and its results.

i have my vaccination records from the united states because i had all my vaccines done here. is that all i need?

and what if they dont want to sign part 5?

The sealed envelope is not for you, its for the USEM. You should have gotten a sheet of paper with your vaccination list on it, that was your copy to keep. If you did not get this then thats what you were supposed to send with your AOS and thats why they would request the 693. UNLESS the RFE states that you must redo the entire medical - which means your medical got lost.

What does the RFE say exactly - this would make all the difference because if you only do the vaccination portion of the 693 and USCIS requested a FULL 693 medical you will have problems.

i think i remember receiving something after the interview but i dont think i sent it, i think i discarded it because at poe they told me that and the xray are unnecessary. My rfe says that i did not file the i693 or that i submitted the i693 that was conducted after june 01 2008. i have no clue what the difference or that means.

This is the problem. If you had all your vaccinations up to date by the time of your medical, then you would not have needed the civil surgeon and an I-693. However, your vaccinations were not complete at that time, and you had vaccinations in the US. You needed to take your vaccination records to a civil surgeon and have them transcribe the vaccinations to the I-693, sign off on it and seal it up in an envelope for you to send in with your AOS. You need to find a civil surgeon to do this for you. You have to call around until you find a CS that is willing to not give or charge for the medical.

To be on the safe side though, you may want to get the whole thing done by the CS and pay for the medical too, just to make sure you satisfy the RFE at this point. That would be up to you.

Hi there! Just want to ask and verify...

Im working on my AOS and I have my DS3025 with me and Immunization Record.. Your reply meant if I have all these.. I wont need a Civil Surgeon and an I-693?

Or I need to bring my DS3025 to be certified by a Civil Surgeon?

Your response is much appreciated. Thanks

Dee

If all your vaccinations were up to date at the time you had your medical and the DS-3025 was filled out, then you do not need to see a civil surgeon. However, you stated you had all your vaccinations here in the US, so that would have been after your K-1 medical in your country. Since you got the vaccinations here, after the DS-3025 was filled out for your medical, then you need to take the DS-3025 and your immunization records from here in the US from when you got your vaccinations and have a civil surgeon transcribe them onto the I-693.

I am not sure what your RFE states exactly, but you might want to go ahead and get the new medical from the civil surgeon and have the I-693 completely filled out since you said the RFE was asking for you to submit an I-693. You CAN just send in the I-693 with just the vaccinations portion filled out, but sometimes the RFE is sent because they lost your medical and are requesting a new one. Read your RFE carefully and provide them with exactly what they are asking for.

Good luck!
