I have recently changed my address and I'm filling out form AR-11. I came to the US on an F-1 visa but now that I have applied for AOS, I am not sure if I'm still considered an F-1 student or a non-immigrant. My AOS application is still pending. On AR-11, one question is "I am in the US as a a) Visitor, b) Permanent Resident, b) Student, c) Other (specify). I am not sure if I should check student or check other...if so, what should I type for other?

Thanks!

You entered the US as a student on an F-1 so you would select Student.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I am a Citizen of the United States of America. 04/16/13

Expiration of stay is usually documented as D/S for an F1 student - as in Duration of stay - indicating that you are allowed to stay as long as you are enrolled full-time at a college/university. The moment the application for AOS is accepted you're no longer a F1 student, you entered a new period of authorized stay in the US.

All done ;-)

So that makes me think that I probably shouldn't say that I'm in the US as a student, correct? If so, what would be the correct answer on the top of the page when asked "I am in the United States as..."?

Thanks!

You could probably also put "other" and write in "adjustment applicant from F-1." I honestly don't think you'll have issues either way. What they really want is to know your address.

Also, if they haven't already, make sure your sponsor fills out the I-865

Yeah, I don't think I will have any issues. I will check "other" and write an explanation as you suggested. And yes, we're about to mail the I-865 as well! Thanks!
