Hi all

I am confused over the procedure of marriage based greencard.

I married to my USC wife and we applied for my green cardbased on marriage. We filed I-130, I-485, I-765, I-864 and I-131 on Oct 242011. We received RFE for I-485 (specific to I-864 Affidavit of support) sincethey were kinda confused because I sponsored myself while I am working andstudying on CPT. But them we sent the explanation and additional I-864 from aGC friend.

Now we have received an interview letter "Request forapplicant to appear for the initial interview" and case type is I-485,Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. All other cases (I-130,I-765,I-131) still says "Initial Review". My understanding for this process wasfirst I-130 gets approved based on that I-485 and all other forms areprocessed, EAD is processed and at the end Interview to prove the relation.

My question is the main interview for marriage based greencard is based on I-130 or I-485? I have read somewhere that very few timespeople get interview for I-485. I have attached the interview notice. Is thisdifferent from what people usually get the interview at last for the greencard? Do we have to appear for two interviews then if this is not the finalinterview?

Thanks a lot

That's your final interview which is usual for people who have filed for adjustment of status from a visa other than the K-1.

Sometimes some couples are called for a second interview though which is not so usual.

Thanks jojolicious for your reply. Thats what I thought to but I was going through the FAQ fro I-130 here on VJ forum and it said everyone gets interview for I-130 so I was confused. Here : http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130faq

Do you know anything about I-130 interview? I know for sure that if beneficiary is in removal proceedings then interview is must for I-130.

Thanks

Ours said it was for the 485 as well. It should be your only interview. They basically take care of anything that needs to be asked for the 485 or 130 all at once.

That interview is for both your I-130 and I-485. They adjudicate both right then. Don't use FAQs for I-130s filed when spouse is out of country and assume that process is the same for you.
