I met my fiance online a month ago. I live in Canada and she lives in the US. We've spoken everyday, skyped, texted everyday since and we're sure we want to get married. Last night I proposed and she said yes. I'm a student and my studies don't finish until May, but we're really unsure of how to approach our wedding, and my immigration to the US. I don't want to be suspected of fraud because we met online and because things excelled towards marriage quickly.

She's visiting me in Canada in January for a marriage retreat and we're considering getting married around the same time as well. So my questions are:

1) Does it matter the rate at which we get married for immigration?

2) Will getting married in Canada cause difficulty for me moving to the US?

3) If we apply for the K3 visas and get married in the US, will it matter that we got engaged quickly?

4) Any additional advice would be appreciated.

1, no.

2, no only the fact that you may be waiting months for the marriage certificate ( you cannot file without it.)

3, You would be applying for the CR-1, the K-3 is more expensive and a waste as the CR-1 is cheaper and offers green card on entry.

Hi Gregory i meet and married my wife outside the U.S.A.

MY ADVICE IS WAIT UNTIL MAY TO MARRY HER AND SAVE ALL YOUR CHAT LOG YOU WILL NEED IT AS EVIDENCE AFTER FOR U.S EMBASSY AND WHEN YOU WILL SEE HER MAKE A LOT OF PICTURE WITH BOTH OF YOU INSIDE AND SOME WHERE IT WILL BE YOUR FAMILY AND BOTH OF YOU

ONE OF THE INTERVIEW QUESTION WILL BE

WHEN AND HOW YOU MEET YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE

WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO GET MARRIED

I ADVICE YOU TO MARRY HER IN CANADA AND APPLY FOR CR1 VISA THE WAITING TIME BETWEEN CR1 AND K3 IS ALMOST THE SAME EXCEPT ON CR1 YOU WILL SAVE A LOT OF MONEY FOR YOUR ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS

TRY TOO IF BOTH OF YOU CAN TO MAKE MORE THAN 1 TRAVEL TO SEE HER OR TO SEE YOU BEFORE THE WEDDING AND SAFE THE PLANE TICKETS FOR EVIDENCE AFTER

GOOD LUCK

My strongest advice. You have proposed marriage but you never even met her in person. Heck you only "MET" online for less than a month. Put the horse in front of the cart. You should not even be having this conversion until you have met her and spent some time with her. Online and face to face are worlds apart. You are considering a life changing, life long decision. You need to spend some time together, meet her friends and family. And vice-verso. No problems for either of you to visit each other.
