Sorry about another vaccination thread. My fiance would rather not get a flu shot. I looked but I didn't find the answer for our situation. Am I correct in understanding, the flu shot is only needed if AOS is filed within the flu season (10/31 to 3/31)?

We are hoping for NOA-2 any day now. We anticipate the medical in January and PoE in February. We would file the AOS after the end of flu season. We are planning on getting a copy of the DS3025 from the CS and file it with the AOS.

Will the CS require a flu shot if the medical exam is during the flu season? Will the CS mark form DS3025 as all vaccines current if she does not have a flu shot during flu season?

Will she need proof of flu shot if she arrives at PoE during flu season?

Thanks in advance.

Can't speak for Russian consulate, but the instructions for my fiancee said at her medical (before interview) she needed to have all her immunizations complete, including a flu shot since it was flu season. A lot of people don't want flu shots (neither me nor my fiancee had ever had them before), but that is the US requirement right now.

I'm pretty sure the important time is when the actual medical takes place. If it's during flu season, a flu shot is needed. If it's not during flu season, on is not needed. Doesn't matter when your actual AOS happens.

If anyone knows anything else about opting out of flu shots, please feel free to correct me.

Civil Surgeons are US based doctors who are authorized by the USCIS. Foreign doctors authorized by the consulate are panel physicians

YMMV

Actually nothing is cut and dried about that as with any other part of this it is determined by an adjudicator. The adjudicator may decide it goes by when he looks at it (the medical is valid for a year after all) Even if the adjudicator is wrong, you STILL have the RFE to respond to. The need for flu shots varies and needed vaccines can be added and subtracted. We did not need flu vaccines. Our medicals were in the summer and the visas were issued in late summer. It is probably safe to say that they require flu shots during flu season but it is determined each individual time so I cannot say it is ALWAYS that way.

More important is to have the panel physcian complete and sign the DS-3025 at the medical exam and have hin check the "vaccines complete" box on the form.

AT ANY RATE...

NO vaccines are need for visa issuance or entry into the US, they are needed for the AOS later.

Your fiancee should bring her vaccination records with her to the medical (make sure she gets them back and keeps them), get the DS-3025 filled out, signed and KEEP that also. Bring it with her to be sued for the AOS,

Hmm it won't let me edit an earlier post.

The website for the Russian Embassy only says,

"9. Results of Medical Examination in a sealed envelope. The medical must be taken at one of the embassy-designated medical centers. It takes 2 days to complete the medical examination."

Nothing specifically about flu shots. On the panel physician (not CS  ) page it just says,

"When you go to a clinic, please be sure to bring the following: 2 color pictures 3X4 cm in size, travel passport and an extract from your medical history with the list of vaccinations you have received. The document should include a doctor's signature and stamp."

I think I'm twisting myself into a pretzel here. But are any vaccines required for K1 since it is not technically an immigrant visa? I guess we will have to wait and see what the panel physician says.

Technically the K-1 has no vaccination requirement, however, some consulates treat the K-1 as if it is. Not sure how Moscow looks at it. My guess is that they do not.

Thanks Gary for the reply. I was typing my last entry when you responded.

I thought we had everything ready to go. The plan was to get the DS-3025 signed as "vaccines complete" and then use that form for AOS. Then today my fiance asked about flu shot because she doesn't want one. It must be because of "chemicals" (RUBites will understand).

I guess we just have to wait and see what the doctor in Russia requires.

Whatever they require they will get. I just want her here with me as soon as possible.
