Shortly after I mailed off my I-129f petition, I received the following email:

Dear Applicant/Petitioner:

Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the Vermont Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number EAC**********. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your application using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.

This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your application/petition. This notice does NOT grant any immigration status or benefit. You MAY NOT present this notice as evidence that you have been granted any immigration status or benefit. Further, this notice does NOT constitute evidence that your application remains pending with USCIS. The current status of your application/petition must be verified with USCIS.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried signing in using my receipt number, but I received this message:

Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Am I doing something wrong? It's been 2 months now since I received that email! Acceptance

During the acceptance step USCIS reviews newly received applications and petitions to ensure that they are properly filed (i.e. signed by the applicant, appropriate fees, etc.) USCIS issues a receipt number for the application or petition, and sends a receipt notice to the applicant or petitioner.

Thanks,

Corey

I don't sign in. Just go http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis and paste the code into the CASE STATUS Enter your receipt number box, then press check. See if that works.

You find out touches by signing in and making an account. The very thing you tell people not to do.

Anyways OP - its VERY common to never be able to look at the case status online. It happens to a lot of people. Most of the time even if you can get on to see the case it never updates or it updates incorrectly. This is why you cannot rely on the online case status update system.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

the online status checker works for some and not for others and even for those that it does work it is still not very reliable. the main thing is that you got your NOA1 which is the I-797 with your receipt number

I-129F SENT............................................08/15/2011

NOA1 TEXT/EMAIL...................................08/22/2011

NOA2 TEXT/EMAIL. NO RFE.....................01/05/2012

NVC RECEIVED......................................01/21/2012

NVC LEFT...............................................01/24/2012

PACKET 3 RECEIVED..............................02/01/2012

PACKET 3 RETURNED.............................02/04/2012

MEDICAL................................................02/17/2012

DS-2001 MAILED.....................................02/23/2012

PACKET 4 RECEIVED..............................03/02/2012

INTERVIEW............................................03/14/2012 APPROVED

POE ATLANTA.........................................04/03/2012

AOS approved 3/29/13 after almost 10 months of waiting. No RFE's and no interview.
