Hello Everyone!!!

A friend of mine recommended me this site if I ever needed help and now that I do, I hope you guys can help me. I just got engaged to the love of my life and I want him to be with me here in the US. I want to begin the process of filing the K1 Visa for him, but I am afraid that I do not meet the economic requirements as a sponsor. I am a college student and as all you know, college students do not make a lot of money. What should I do to meet this requirements?

Get someone who will be a co-sponsor and has the income that is required. At the AOS stage that would 125% of the poverty line.

Both you and the co-sponsor will fill one out. I would also look into the matter depending on which consulate your fiance will be interviewing at. As I understand it, some places can be more strict about co-sponsors.

Don't stress out about it now, as your fiance won't need it until the interview.

Good luck!

and what wouuld be the form that this person has to fill out?

Before your fiance interviews at the embassy both you and the co-sponsor will have to provide I-134 (look it up on uscis.gov). For adjustment of status both you and the co-sponsor will have to provide I-864 and supporting documents (3 past years of tax returns, employer statement that you're working and a statement from you if you're not required to file taxes due to low income/non-employment).

so at the time of sending the I-129 do I have to send this form as well or no??

Nope.

Here's the guide from this website: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

It was a great tool for me when I sent in my petition. I still had a few questions, which were easily answered on the boards here. :) Follow the guideline up to the point where it says "Create a VJ timeline." The guidelines after that point are for when you receive the NOA2. :)

No, the I-134 is needed for his interview at the embassy - probably 8 months from now. I-864 when you send for his AOS after you're married in the US.

I suggest reading the guides for K-1 visa followed by the guides for Adjustment of Status from Family based visa (K1) so you're familiar with the process(es), the forms needed, documents required, evidence to be sent and of course $$$ to be paid.

Guides are at the top of each page and you already found K-1 visa forum. The AOS forum is a bit further below.

Good luck!
