biometrics done in June 2011, i-90 requires another set?

We filed for AOS in April, got the biometrics done in June and in October we got a green card with the wrong expiration date

We just got a notice for another biometrics appointment for Dec 12, 2011. I thought the first biometrics was valid for like 15 months or something like that?!

The wife is in the middle of finals week and she takes off with her stamped passport that same weekend.

Is this something that is mandatory or do we just informed them of the existing biometrics?!

Nov 04, 2010 - Sent out i-129f

Nov 10, 2010 - Packet received

Nov 11, 2010 - NOA1

Nov 16, 2010 - 'touched'

Jan 25, 2011 - APPROVED!! NOA2 !! WOWZERS!

Feb 01, 2011 - Mailed to US Embassy in Buenos Aires

Jun 07, 2011 - Hard Copy NOA1

Jun 07, 2011 - RFE email

Jun 20, 2011 - RFE hard copy (due in 87 days)

Jun 21, 2011 - RFE mailed out

Jun 22, 2011 - Biometrics in Boston

Jun 29, 2011 - 'touched'

Jun 30, 2011 - Travel Doc approved

Jul 07, 2011 - Work authorization approved

Jul 11, 2011 - Work Authorization received

Jul 13, 2011 - Received notice for interview Aug 15

Aug 15, 2011 - Approved! FINALLY DONE! (for now)

Oct 03, 2011 - Finally got the damn GC, except they put issue date 2007, expiration 2009 instead of issue 2011 expiration 2013. Rather than reissue the damn thing, they sent an i-90 form to complete and request a new one! Why?

This is required. Existing biometrics shouldn't be used for a replacement card, otherwise ANYONE could get the card. It's about protecting her status and her card.

Yes! I don't know about other filers, I was writing from my experience.

well... USCIS told us that the biometrics were filed under the i-485 and since this was an i-90, we needed new ones

all they did was take a pic and a thumb print.. waste of our time, but then again, this gov't loves doing that
