There is a store in MA that carries lots of British food - you can order online also! I'm not sure how the prices compare to elsewhere, but I know there are certain things my fiance will NOT live without (PG Tips & Cadbury for starters) that we can get from there. Now if we could only find some sausages & back bacon... :-)

We went British shopping and Nick picked out some treats. Wasn't sure how to cook those banger things. Somebody please tell me.

One strange thing I have noticed about the US food is that they add sugar to everything (bread tastes like cake) but chocolate which is supposed to have bags of sugar in it is kind of bitter and not even close to being sweet enough. I do miss good British sugar free bread but I sometimes make my own or I just have a bagel sandwich with ham egg and cheese instead. Yum! I'm certainly not starving.

When I first moved here a girl I worked with told me Hershey's "tastes like sick" :(

MONSTER MUNCH! Good pickings. Not too sure on the Banger front.

Pickled onion Monster Munch is the best!

Bangers = sausages (proper sausages). My preference is to grill them, mm.

I can see where they come from, although, to me, Hershey's just tastes smokey. It isn't greatly enjoyable to my palette, though.

There are a couple of UK stores around Salt Lake City, and Whole Foods in SLC carries small jars of Marmite & Colman's, Heinz Baked Beans and Weetabix that I've seen.

Organic Ketchup is the one to buy (by whichever manufacturer) as they use cane sugar, not corn syrup, and find Mexican sodas (or Throwback/Kosher) if you miss the taste, as they are sugar rather than HFCS. My brother-in-law's wife is Mexican, and she recommended a Mexican grocery store for bits and pieces too.

One thing I do miss is not being able to buy a gammon joint in the store - I wanted to make Nigella's gammon in coca-cola recipe, but that'll have to be next Christmas, giving me time to find some decent uncooked gammon.

Has anybody ordered their favorite UK treats off of amazon? I'm wondering how fresh these items are...

I found twirls, HP sauce and digestives all on amazon (haven't looked for other stuff yet) and all of these items are cheaper on amazon then they are from my local British imports store (and no shipping as I'm a prime member) - so I'm tempted to start stocking up using amazon...but was wondering if others had thoughts or experiences with this first!!

Thank you! :)

Tell you what my fiance got me hooked on.. such a simple thing.. Tesco Fruit and Barley squash drink. Healthy, doesn't need refrigerated, and concentrated so goes far. Really would like to have this in the US, but not sold anywhere :(

And may I say.. IRNBRU was the worst thing I think I tasted while I was there lol! But I loved haggis..

I've not had the best luck with products being in date on amazon. For example some candy was from 2010 and the bread I sent my daughter was furry by the time it arrived. Do you have a Trader joe's in your area? They carry crumpets. Hannaford and Shaws have British section where you can find a lot of items and I found a few things today in Christmas Tree Shop. I have had good luck before online with the English tea store. www.englishteastore.com

I bought from britishsuperstore.com, but shipping was.. painful. Now I think it's down :( Sure miss my squash drink
