ATLANTA—The world culinary community is hailing the ingenuity of Atlanta-area fat man Gene Bando for his counterintuitive juxtaposition of Aunt Jemima blueberry frozen waffles and Häagen-Dazs butter-pecan ice cream, resulting in a delightful taste sensation. "I have combined the best of both worlds," the obese visionary told reporters Monday. "The delicious taste of waffles combined with the irresistible flavor of ice cream truly is a win-win situation, if you will." Bando is now widely believed to be researching a bold interplay of hot dogs and gravy.

The delicious taste of waffles
This reminds me of one as I simultaneously apologize for the all-caps, SI MAN:

THE WOMAN WHO CONSULTED THE PSYCHIATRIST WORE A WORRIED FROWN. "I'M HERE AT THE INSISTENCE OF MY FAMILY, DOCTOR," SHE EXPLAINED. "THEY THINK THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME BECAUSE I LIKE WAFFLES."

"WHY, THERE'S NOTHING WRONG ABOUT LIKING WAFFLES," THE DOCTOR DECLARED. "I LIKE THEM MYSELF."

"YOU DO, DOCTOR?" CRIED THE WOMAN DELIGHTEDLY. "THEN YOU MUST COME UP SOMETIME. I HAVE NINE SUITCASES FULL OF THEM!"

During the St. Louis Worlds Fair, The Banner Creamery's owner, George Bang was selling ice cream. He is the one who ran out of bowls and was given the rolled up waffle to serve it in. The Banner Creamery was located on Warne Avenue. Mr. Bang also invented what he called the Take Home a Sundae, in a box and a combination of three flavors of ice cream in one container...the precursor to Neapolitan Ice Cream. He also invented an early "cooler" to transport his ice cream from St. Louis to his summer home in Michigan
