Supreme Court to hear health care case in March

The Supreme Court said Monday it will hear arguments next March over President Barack Obama's main domestic achievement, health care overhaul, setting up an election year showdown.

The decision to hear arguments in the spring allows plenty of time for a decision in late June, just over four months before Election Day.

By that time each state will have already drafted constitutional prohibitions on mandatory coverage.

Buy all the ammo you want. If it survives, your days of freeloading are finally over.

If it survives, be ready to buy the whatever else the know-it-alls in DC decide is best for us.

I am very much in favor of everyone ensuring they have essential health care coverage. Quite frankly, I am tired of being part of the crowd that collectively picks up hundreds of billions of dollars worth of health care cost that is incurred for the treatment of freeloaders.

When DC is done with you, you're not gonna have any money left to buy ammo! They'll make you buy health insurance instead - LOL

As admittedly flawed Mr. O's health care plan is, compared to single payer and the public option, it's a big improvement over what we have now: sh*t.

I'm healthy as an ox, but have to pay $2,400 per month (!) for health insurance. I have cost my health insurance perhaps two or three thousand dollars in medical costs in the past 20 years, but I have paid in through the nose since 2006. Why? Because back then I went to a routine medical for a professional license and had too much caffeine beforehand, which caused my blood pressure to be over "normal." We redid the blood pressure test the next morning -- without coffee -- and my reading was fine, but that incident caused the insurance company to notice "a history of hypertension!" Yay!

With Mr. O's plan, I will have to pay no more than 20% of my income. Since I make decent money, it will still be substantial, but it will be substantially less. So while the mandate will force everyone to be insured, Uncle Sam will make sure that it won't cost too much. I call that a first step in the right direction, as it follows what most European countries do as well: insure everybody, including those who have very little money.

Eventually we will have a better system in the U.S. as well, but this is a first step I really appreciate.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
