Certified Attested: For example, your birth-certificate was issued in Dubai, and photocopy of your birth-certificate should be attested from Dubai Local Birth-certificate center only ( where it was generated originally ). That will be called as Certified Attested.

Honestly there is no risk to send the original copies. Because you will get back all of your original doc at the time of interview. It is safe! Try to have couple of copies of your original doc ( Just in case ).

Send the originals and a complete photocopy set of them. Then at the interview, request the originals back.

Sending originals is fine, saves you an RFE and 7-10 days processing time, in case of bad luck. I got a RFE because they did not like my certified attested.

So to save time and be on the safer side send originals, you always get them back at the interview.

do we have to submit original docs at VFS? if so...wen we have already submitted the originals to NVC how can we?? since usually everybody has only ONE original...

Send the originals and a photocopy to NVC.

For VFS. Have an original signed (Part 1 Only) and dated DS-230 form just in case they ask for it.

All other documents can be photocopies to VFS unless you did not send an original in to NVC and they completed your case (rare but it happens) and are demanding it on the interview letter that you have to submit the original still.

That is where the true copies come in. You take those to the interview.

The originals are forwarded to the consulate once NVC completes the case. Your official interview date letter will reflect on the back with a checklist of all the documents they have (originals, copies etc). If it happens that they lose the file (very rare) this is your evidence to show that NVC has accepted the originals and we already submitted them.

The interview we did not have to show anything...go to my timeline and scroll down to read our interview experience.

VFS only took photocopies of our joint sponsors tax information and another DS-230 (Part 1 Signed and dated) copy.
