Does anyone know if the $350 visa fee for K-1 can be paid in rupees at the US Embassy in Islamabad? Is it okay for my fiance to pay in rupees?

I looked at old reviews and one person indicated they paid in rupees -- but if anyone can confirm, I would really appreciate it.

My understanding is that US visas are paid in US dollars. You cannot go wrong with USD.

Thanks for the responses - we were planning to pay in USD because I vaguely recalled reading that somewhere. To make a long story short, my fiance once again has the fee in USD. I'll ask my fiance to confirm at the embassy what the payment methods were & will report back.

@GringoD: A K-1 fiance visa petition is treated the same regardless of the country the beneficiary is from. Everyone pays the I-129F applicat fee at the time they submit the application. The visa fee collected by the embassy on interview day is different than the I-129F application fee. If you read the K-1 packet for USEM-Columbia, you will see that you too have to pay $350 before your interview.

Things change, yes.

I've been through this once before and don't remember having to pay an additional fee the day of the interview.

Fairly sure, that didn't happen/wasn't the case then.

That was about 4 1/2 years ago, Colombia.

U do realize there are 2 separate fees involved with K1. One at application time and one at interview.. The OP is talking about interview time..

did you read my post jus above your last one?

No.

I'm unaware of a Fee to be paid the day of the interview.

But,... I'm always willing to expand my awareness.

Where is this stated?

uscis website?

or, something about it comes with Packet 3?

Other?

And, how much is it?

Different for different countries?

and, it could have happened, but I don't recall, 4 years ago.

There has ALWAYS been a visa application fee - it changed about 1 1/2 years ago from $131 to $350. This was around the same time USCIS changed the I129F fee from $455 to $340.

Some Embassies require the fee to be paid in advance of the interview (make sure to bring the receipt from the bank where the fee was paid), other Embassies have you pay the fee on date of the interview at the Embassy. Varies country to country.

@GringoD: My understanding is that the visa fee is $350 no matter what country you are dealing with.

You should visit the K-1 visa page for US Embassy - Bogota at http://bogota.usembassy.gov/fiance-apply.html

There is a PDF file link on that page for K-1 processing which states that the fee is $350.

ok, thanks all.

I guess I paid it last time and forgot about it, along with the medical exams and other things.

Fees change pretty rapidly.

I filed the first I-129F in June 2007 and that app fee was only about 150 or 175, and then the very next month, it went up to the 455. now, back to 340 or 350.
