Not sure what your talking about interview! There is no interview for the SSN, you go in give the forms and your ID with marriage certificate, sit there while they type on their computer and that is it.

Do you mean AOS interview? There will be an interview for AOS where you will have to prove bonafide marrriage, but no interview for SSN.

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

During the SSN interview to show that we are now legally married in the America, will the interviewer ask questions like the interviewer in vietnam at the consulate? I ask because I would like to prepare for the tough questions.

I just did this with my wife on Monday. We came the CR-1/CR-2 route.

Maybe some other K-1 folks can say when you can get the SSN. For CR-1 you should get it soon after you enter, and it should have been automatic, but wasn't. Would a K-1 need to get the EAD done first?

At the office he wants to see documents showing your need for it. http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm#o-a-n-documents

We filled out the form and he asked her to "swear under penalty of perjury that it was correct" (sic) and we're done. Hopefully in 10 days we'll have a bright shiny new SSN.

The SSA isn't interested in how you got your status, just that you need the SSN and that they've got all the docs showing you are who you say you are.

Compared to the rest of your journey, this one is really easy.

Yes this one, the Adjustment of Status interview. Can you give me some more insight on what is asked and what happens? Thanks.

Most people who enter on a K-1 visa do not have an interview. The chance is 50/50 that you get an interview or not. You don't even need to worry about this right now.

Chinook and I had an AOS interview. It was painless. The interviewer asked some general questions. He also looked at some of the documents we brought in which showed how our lives were intertwined...joint bank account, both of our names on the utility bills, marriage certificate...things like that.
