My work pays for WW and I joined it to try and learn to eat healthier. I am not overweight, so I dont really have any lbs to lose. However I do have very bad eating habits that I picked up in college. I tend to skip a lot of meals and often eat from the vending machine at work. I used to eat one proper meal a day which is usually packed with high calories, fat & carbs.

WW has helped me learn to savor my food and not treat mealtime like a chore. It has also helped me to learn to plan my meals ahead of time so that I am not tempted to make poor choices when I get hungry. Now, I cook my meals from scratch and make sure that I have enough leftovers to pack a lunch for the next day. It has also helped me make better choices when I am away from home.. I no longer live on granola bars and fried chicken when I travel for work.

I think WW is a great program if you are learning to eat healthier or if you have a history of bad eating or if you have trouble with portion control. However, you will need to supplement it with exercise if you are looking to lose a considerable amount of weight. Also, you will need to be very meticulous in tracking your food and going to meetings for the program to work.

I joined WW online and have lost nearly 15 lbs so far (in just over 2 months). I never thought it'd work - I'm SO not the 'diet type'. But it really makes me think about what I put in my mouth, and do I REALLY want to waste points on that Snickers bar ? The answer is usually no.

I didn't like the idea of meetings where you weigh in front of others. Doing it online allows you to keep track of it yourself. But whatever would motivate you better is the way to go. :)

I went to Weight Watchers when I lived in Canada back in 2006. I lost about 50 lbs there and it was awesome! I have since gained the weight back (had a medical issue that messed up my hormones and caused me to gain weight...having surgery in the summer to fix the problem caused me to gain even MORE weight!). Before my surgery, I did WW online and found they changed the plan again. I honestly do NOT like the new plan. I used the Flex plan back in the day and it worked wonders. I still have my old books and point slider, so I am using that now to trim the pounds. The way it is now, I think everyone gets the same amount of points, and they included carbs in the equation of how they determine point values. Most fruits have dropped to 0 points now, which sounds good, but when I do WW, I tend to eat mostly fruits and veggies. I found I wasn't eating all my points. For instance, I had 29 points a day (I think?) and I was eating about 20. On the old Flex plan, I would get 26 points a day (based on different things, such as weight, daily activity and age...so it changes). I had no problem getting my 26 points, and I was losing the weight pretty quickly. I also wasn't hungry, and got to eat things I liked. In the 3 months that I did it online with the new plan, I never got my points and only lost 8 lbs.

I guess it all depends on the person, but for me the current (new) plan just didn't work, so I won't be going to meetings. I am sticking with the Flex plan and doing it all on my own. So glad I bought all the books!

Forgot to add...

I would only eat 20 of my 29 points on the current plan to feel satisfied and not hungry, and would eat more to get the full 29 daily points. I think if I just left it I may have lost weight, but WW recommends you eat all your points so yea.
