The Princess Marries the Marine

My wife and I watched an appalling show about the Bahrain princess who entered the US as a minor with forged US Military Identification and forged Military Orders in 1999, in the company of her soon to be court-martialed boyfriend... and ended up with a K-3 green card.

She was smart enough to immediately apply for political asylum, because that plus her royal status got her a preliminary hearing in two days and incredibly she was released to the 24 year old marine about to be court-martialed. Her illegal entry was in May of 1999. She had some kind of Asylum hearing in July 1999, where she was ordered into a deportation proceeding. As I understand the Asylum law, USCIS at that time had a standard of two months between an asylum application and a hearing in front of either an asylum judge or an immigration judge. So it sounds like that was the asylum judge, who must have found no merit in her claim. So the next step is deportation proceedings, right?

Before meeting Jason, she was a 17 year old princess running around in blue jeans to jewelry stores and movies at the mall in Bahrain with a security detail when her friends introduced him, who as we understand it was a 24 year old thug from California she said impressed him as "kinda dumb". She seems to have manipulated three people into committing felony crimes (two other marines) to gain illegal entry into the US. They forged her a photo military ID, so she had to be in on that, dressed in proper military attire, plus forged military orders to "return" to a base in the US. But she was arrested at O'Hare with Customs and Border patrol agents waiting for her as she got off the plane, and they turned the forged documents over to the military for Jason's court martial in due time.

Her deportation proceeding after the July 1999 order seems to have disappeared, and the show made it sound like getting married in october was the way they accomplished it. But there is a three year and ten year ban on marriage visa applications, and you have to divulge all kinds of history in that K-3 application so it is impossible to hide your Immigration Court status unless you lie. What the show claimed is that she took a day-trip to the Mexican Consulate, picked up her K-3 Visa and re-entered happy ever after. We can't believe that happened unless some high officials in the Bush Administration ordered whoever was both prosecuting her deportation proceeding before Immigration Court and whoever was processing her application at USCIS to ignore the law, drop the charge of illegal immigration not to mention the use of forged military documents, and grant her a K-3. She was not granted asylum. Before that hearing on July 17 the father the Sheikh not only adamantly disagreed with her preposterous claim of fearing an honor killing for being with a non-muslim before the court through counsel - but he fully supported her staying in the US if she wanted. He was only concerned that she receive royal treatment wherever she lived. So despite the show pretending she was risking stoning by pursuing true love, this looked like a person of privilige being allowed to commit felony crimes on entry and get away with it.

The hero Jason Johnson is demoted at court-martial and is discharged, where he embarks upon a career as a valet parking cars for Meriam's level of society in Las Vegas. They cash in on $500,000 for the television rights to their "princess marries marine" story, and do the talk show circuit including Oprah Winfrey. She rather quickly falls for the "temptations of Vegas nightlife" and as Jason puts it within a year she is totally ignoring him because "she thinks she can do better". Duh. She was the little hottie, way out of his league.

This is what her immigration attorney, or one of them, said about how she pulled off the K-3 despite a pending deportation case:

When the United States Consulate in Juarez, Mexico, agreed to take the case, Mrs. Johnson, through her counsel, arranged to go to Mexico to immigrate to the United States. This is the legal background for why Mrs. Johnson had to leave the United States in order to immigrate to the United States. By immigrating, she avoided the stress and uncertainty that are part of any asylum trial. Also, because of the inordinate delays in obtaining permanent residence after being granted asylum, she became a permanent resident several years earlier than had she sought to adjust status from asylee to permanent resident.

What the Immigration Attorney Said

So the deportation is dismissed the instant she crosses the border into Mexico, and her K-3 is approved that very same day to come back into the US despite having applied for the K-3 while under deportation proceedings? The media took pictures of the poor little princess posing with the Mexican Consulate, and we were supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy about it. I was disgusted.

She was already separated from Jason, and then fled back to Bahrain after the September 11 attack in NYC, receiving a pardon from the King intead of stoning, which proved the utter preposterousness of the Asylum claim to begin with. She was already stating her intention to divorce him by then although it was not finalized until 2004. We cannot track her whereabouts after fleeing for safety back to Bahrain less than two years after she is saying she'll be stoned if she goes back. I couldn't find anything on it with the search function at this site.

How can she have obtained a K-3 unless she was just given privilege of power?

I was gonna go into detail, but to sum it up,she had good reasons to apply for political asylum, she was sure that she would get stoned, which is the standard thing in cases like that. What king decided to do and how things changed since her asylum is a different story. Everything that happened was effect by one simple fact, America didn't wanna lose Bahrain over two idiots and their lust story

Interesting story.

BTW, it would have been high officials in the Clinton administration who intervened. Bush took office on January 20, 2001.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

This is exactly the kind of gross ignorance about Bahrain she counted on. The depressing thing is she was right. She figured americans to be as dumb and crooked as this sailor.

Thanks Jimmy. I'm an equal-opportunity basher of presidents and Clinton would have exactly the same incentive as all of them: We think we need that Naval Base in the Persian Gulf. Whatever the King wants is what he is going to get, and he wanted the princess to be granted immigration.

Americans can be so utterly blind in the face of a storyline, I find it hard to believe. The Shiek was requesting that the US Government let her immigrate to the USA. But the TV show and media uses incendiary language like she "escaped", so we can pretend the Shiek is trying to stop her. She could have gotten on a plane to London or Paris if she wanted to, if she had merely asked her parents. It's like the movie star that gets caught shoplifting in a way - in the sense that the crimes didn't need to be committed. They were committed because she knew it would make such a splash in the media and she could get a foothold in Hollywood with it. That much she was right about.

But in the long run she wasn't hot enough - her hips look like the back of a camel - and her marine was trailor trash (me too, but just sayin')so she could not parlay it into lasting stardom. So she ran back to Daddy.

For those of us going through the tyranny of legally immigrating a wife, we see millions of illegal aliens that have just walked across the border in disregard of the law, and we see people who are connected to power getting whatever they want in disregard of the law too. Our immigration system is completely bankrupt.
