Hi,

As my fiance is currently studying she does not earn enough to be above the poverty limit. A family member will be co-sponsering me. They have requested to see example forms and know as much information as possible before moving forward.

I do not see much information regarding sponsors and what they have to sign and do, the additional forms they have to fill out etc on this site.

Could someone point me in the right direction or let me know what they have to do.

Thankyou.

The Guides area has all the forms needed listed. The example forms section has samples of the forms. The Downloads section has links to all the forms.

You can also check the USCIS site for the I-134 and I-864. Those are the 2 affidavits of support that would apply in a K1 case. The I-134 at the embassy stage, the I-864 at the Adjustment of Status phase.

You, your fiancee, and the family member can do some reading here on VJ to learn the requirements, nuances of sponsorship. There are many past and present threads on the topic.

I'm pretty sure the info for sponsors and what they are liable for etc is on the instructions portion of either the I-134 or I-864 Just download them from USCIS site (the instructions) to see. Typically, the things they ask you for (tax transcripts, pay stubs, etc) are listed there too, or you can find what else to include here on VJ. Good luck!

thanks for the help guys.

So you file the I-134 when I go to the embassy.

The I file the Adjustment of Status and the I-864 at the same time, after the marrige. Will only 1 document need to be filed or does my Fiance have to do the same??
